Thanks to this thread, I called Suresh to get my AC checked as it was not holding the gas. I have been using my car without AC for almost 4 months now !!! Every AC mechanic I had been to scared me with quotes without even looking at the problem !

Suresh, seems to be a nice chap, explains what could have gone wrong and in my case, a faulty aluminium pipe ( after he ran some tests) he just called to confirm the fault and the price for the pipe (1300rs) i have given a go ahead and I hope this resolves the issue.

Will update after getting back the car.

cheers

The pipe he got was not bent at the right places, although they were for a corsa ! He was as confused as I was. Then it was decided to the fix the hose in the old pipe itself. That took another day.

All things were put back and entire system was checked for leaks. None ! So after a bit of oil and gas things started working fine.

Its been over a week now, and AC works fine. Fingers crossed !

Total bill, 2100rs, incl gas + Pipe repair (900rs)+ Labour !

I will be a regular customer at his and would always reccomend him!

Good that your car is back in shape. Was thinking of going to his place to have a look at your car but was busy. Do visit him after 10 or 15 days for a check up.

Cheers,
L&S

Re: Good A/C Service mechanic in Chennai

Guys, my NHC is having the A/c problem (AC started blowing out hot air). Had a word with the H.A.S.S and suspect it to be a compressor clutch coil and the quote i've got is around 12K. Can anyone point me to a reliable A/C specialist in chennai for a second opinion.

Re: Good A/C Service mechanic in Chennai

for any a/c related jobs, i would surely recommend "anand" who is running his a/c shop in no.1,shenoy road, nungambakkam, opp road to nungambakkam police station in valluvar kottam road.
just refer to him that you are a friend of pondicherry contessa owner and he will surely recognise at once, bcoz all my friends from pondicherry/chennai do regular servicing there only.
anand's no. is 9385550555.
he does all specialist jobs in all high end cars like mercs/bmw/skoda etc.,. i even saw a porsche in his shed, for a/c work. his charges are normal, not cheap, but excellent service assured.
best regards.

@John: Are you referring to Dakshinamoorthy, the guy Nitrous goes to for all his AC needs ? I have been there once for a condensor change and have found him to be pretty good.

Re: Good A/C Service mechanic in Chennai

I have a 2004 Honda City Exi in Chennai. My A/c stopped working last week and Sundaram Honda is telling me that the A/c cluth assembly and compressor coil are worn out and that they have to replace the entire assembly. The cost quoted is Rs.38K . I have a feeling that they are fleecing me!!!!

Can someone recommend what I should do?

I think that I must have a good second opinion on this as I don't think I'll want to spend that kind of money in a haste!!! I tried calling Anand (referred by Shekaran in this thread) on his mobile - but he is not picking up his phone at at all. Do you have an alternate number for his shop?
