final configuration

turbo: IHI VI21
intercooler: swift intercooler
pipings: mildsteel (custom made)
plugs: OWS
ECU: RD0601- Race
Wideband controller: innovate LC-1

no other imported or high quality stuff.. just a start with usual parts, i guess its more than enough for a first time DIY.

regarding performance:
boost: 8 psi
0-100: 8-9secs since proper clutch is not yet installed (no proper launch yet)

as mentioned photos and other specs will be posted in a new thread.

special thanks to RDK for his incredible support throughout this project.(thanks boss, you rock )

thanks again to all the experts for their support and suggestions.

DIY Turbo Esteem

The project is finally truly complete

P.S - The car had four of us inside during this run. Almost about 240 Kgs of extra weight.

Specs

Engine - Completely stock. No headwork or cams
Clutch - Stock
Brakes - Stock
Suspension - Stock
Tires - 185/55/14 S Drives
Turbo - IHI VI 21 with modded waste gate
IC - Swift Diesel IC modded to FMIC
ECU - RD 0601
Filter - Ractive mushroom filter
Plugs - OWS
Oil - OWS Turbo Racing

Boost - 8 psi at TB
Fuel - IOC premium

All the work was done by me and vicky ( strider )
RDK gave us the ECU with base maps loaded. We fine tuned it for about 7 weeks now.

Car is running perfectly fine. Its been 5000 kms since the turbo build, except for a little oil top up everything is running the way it should be ( touch wood )

Will post detailed pics of the build and more details tomorrow.

Wow!!! Great work Harrie and stryder

I had also been researching on turbo charging petrol engines!!
but most people I talked to either said that its impossible or way too much hassle etc.

Seeing your video and project is literally like a ray of hope!!

Thanks

You are talking to the wrong people, my friend. How can something like this be impossible? And the hassle part, they base it on limitations imposed on their own learning capacity.

dyno test

finished dyno tuning the car..

110whp @ 6000 rpm and 214Nm of torque @ 4000 rpm at the most reliable map..
117whp @ 6000 rpm and 226Nm of torque @ 4000 rpm at the aggressive map ( running with speed 97)..

110whp ride + 214Nm of torque = so much of fun.!!! :-)
