Does anybody have a link to a copy of the 2007 Laura 1.9PD's service booklet? The links (mediashare) I came across have expired.

I tried the aftermarket brakes from Bosch....and can tell you it was a poor decision. The brakes started giving a screeching sound within the 1st month of installation. Took them to Giriraj - and was told the noise is due to the brake pad compound in the after market one. However, braking does not get impacted. So if you're willing to live with the screeching sound every time you apply the brakes, you can go for the BOSCH ones....else tbh, I wouldn't go for the after market ones again.

I got my pads changed 1 week ago. Changed to Delphi pads on the mechanic's reccomendation. It cost me 4k.

I also changed my front rotors along with the pads

Hope everyone has had a good Durga Puja / Dushera celebrations.

On the car front, need your advice on a fault that I've been noticing for the last few weeks. The speedometer needle in the laura has the while backlight glow. Whats been happening intermittently is that it keeps switching off....have tried to see if this happens only when going over a rough surface (indicating a loose connection) but that doesn't seem to be the case. Also, this doesn't happen all the time either.

Has anyone faced this issue with their ride? If yes, what was the resolution that you applied?

I have recently relocated to Blore - and tbh, the service quality at both the ASS has been very poor - so am not very keen to take this issue to them - as am pretty sure they would suggest an instrument cluster replacement.

try to get someone with VCDS cable. Do a diagnostic scan. If there is a loose connection, the fault will definately show up in in the fault logs. Even if the needle is glowing now, the fault is registered when it was not glowing, so i am very sure there would be a log if there is loose connection.

most probably you will see "intermittent" fault on "Instrument Cluster"

Hi All,
Am curious to understand if there is any adverse impact of running with the "Bulb Out Error" for a long period - without doing anything about it. Trying to explore the possibility of replacing the normal PY21W bulbs of the DRL to the LED versions. Using them without the load resistors will cause the bulb out error. Wondering if leaving it as-is will have any adverse impact on the canbus or other control systems. Not keen on the load resistors due to unwanted heat generation - and hence unwanted load on canbus system.

Appreciate your thoughts pls.

Skoda Laura TDI DSG March 2012: Coolant leak related issues

Hi, I could really use some advice from you folks! I have diesel Laura as mentioned above. It has done 30K kms and has had all 3 services done on time. This August I had the "coolant low" alert come on. Further investigation at Vinayak skoda KR puram revealed that there was a manufacturing defect in the coolant pump and the pump was replaced. The hot coolant also dripped on the timing belt and that was also replaced. Coolant was topped up as well.
This morning I got the "coolant low" alert again. Checked the coolant tank and it was almost empty. Filled in 1.5 liters of water and called the service advisor. He advised that I run the car till I get the next warning as he believes that it could be normal consumption as well and not a leak. I find that hard to believe. Any guidance or similar issues faced by anyone? Any thought's advice will help.

Even with normal consumption the coolant tank is never empty. Only thing that could have happened is last time they didn't fill up sufficient volume of coolant. Take it to the ASS at the earliest and get it checked.

My 2010 CR TDI DSG had a coolant leak. Initially it was a slow leak, got the warning on MID, i topped up. Few days later i spotted coolant below the car, it was a small leak in Radiator. The radiator was replaced. Link:http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/long-t...ml#post3590759

I have a Laura Elegance TDI 2.0CR DSG 2011 which is coming up for a 60,000 KM service. From what i have read, there is a need of Transmission fluid change required at this interval. What other things are needed at this time?
Secondly i feel my suspensions are making some noises, probably dampers or bad mounts, how much more expensive will this be at the ASS compared to somewhere outside and what is most likely cause of this which I should pre-emptively change?

Lastly does anyone know any contact in Autobahn Skoda Kurla, Mumbai whom i can trust with? Thats the most convenient place for me.

Hi Zubin,
few things to note:
1. Check Brake pads
2. Brake discs may need skimming if ridged.
3. Transmission oil- I did not change because it appeared Ok, sufficient
oiliness. I don't trust the ASS. I have read too many posts which said that proper venting /procedure was not followed leading to problems later with the auto box. Too scared to let anyone touch it.
4. Trust you have changed the tyres.
5. Engine oil change and check all other oils for colour and oiliness. if too
dark/black then change it. Smell the engine oil on your hands . if you get the smell of fuel then you need to service your fuel injectors but this is not likely to happen. Just a cautionary.

My car just completed 62000 km. 2010 TDi AT, Normally You must change the suspension bushes. I suggest get it done by a local mechanic. Thee bushes cost about Rs4500/- per bush(original) from any good parts dealer. Your total cost will be much lower than the ASS. The problem with the ASS is that the moment you give it to them, they will start creating more more and thus you land up paying a lot more. I have experienced this quite often now.

Thanks Seacat; i have my pads changed at 55K plus disc skimmed. Oil too was topped up that time plus I had new rubber that time. I just wanted things which are mandatory and technical handled by ASS but you have got me scared on this one. So I am thinking more of changing the oils + filters and the likes. But its the suspension that probably needs some work, it feels stiff and not at all plush. Compared to Jetta it just doesn't stand a chance. I understand that Jetta's setup is different but this time its too still compared to earlier hence i want that back. Perhaps I should try somewhere else for Suspension?
