Re: Skoda Laura DSG CR 140 - Ownership Experience.UPDATE-DSG Failure! No Spares avail

Glad to hear that the issue wasn't related to the DSG box. I guess that's a big sigh of relief for Skoda owners.

Do you have a VCDS cable Anshuman? It's a must have IMO for VAG car owners. The real deal from Ross Tech costs close to 10k but you can always get the cheaper Chinese variant from Aliexpress for cheap and it works with the older versions of VCDS (old as in not really old!). Helps for diagnosis and some of those tweaks.

Crap! I hope you've pointed that out to your SA. I've noticed that some of the service centers and FNGs do not have proper tools to remove plastic trims inside the car and end up leaving scuff marks.

Good luck and drive safe!

In this case the diagnosis was not an issue, Skoda dealers are advised to send a scan report to Skoda factory for analysis before beginning work on any complex issue. It is only after the dealer gets the advise from Skoda they start the i work. This is a good process, ensures the dealer does not do R&D at your cost.

The real concern is- The time taken by Skoda to act on the reports and to send the parts is simply unacceptable for a mass produced car. Lack of communication makes the matters worse.

I wrote a mail to Skoda India, all i got in return was a redirect to the dealer, the dealership contacted me upon instructions by Skoda India, there was no change on whatever was going on. Chalta Hai Attitude along with lack of consumer laws! The shrinking market share of Skoda India is well deserved, no amount of publicity is going to help them unless the get the Dealers attitude fixed. Dealers are the first and only(in case of Skoda) point of contact with the customers.

My long term upgrade plan from Laura was Skoda Superb, if the ownership is such a pain for 65k done car, why not buy a Merc or a BMW!

Being you yourself a Skoda owner and dealing with them over the years, you are definitely in a better position to comment on the problems that you have faced & the underlying reasons. However, didn't they confirmed that your car had a DSG failure, which later did not turn out the case to be?

Oh! How familiar does it sound. The Yeti stayed for over a month for accidental repair parts and to replace the windshield, they managed to scratch the roof (where the beading meets) and the A-pillar from inside. Lots of screws not present in the bumper.

Response from the dealer was almost accurate & they hinted for over a month for repairs. The response from Skoda was pathetic, after asking for my phone (which they asked after 4 days after my e-mail), they are yet to revert back.

The way Skoda has treated its customers here (in my locality, with shutting of one SVC & zilch response) I don't think there would be a repeat customer.

Why not change to a 3rd party service provider. I think the damages may be quite low then. I have seen them repair the radiator of my Qualis and some Skodas for around 1-2K here in Meerut.

I would have got it done from outside but this came in at a busy time for me, cannot spend time for research now. I am going to say goodbye to Skoda Authorised Robbers soon!

Got the car back some time back, paid Rs.22,100. The Radiator costs Rs.11,933, and another 10k is for fitting it and coolant

22K? Wow!! that is a huge amount.
My colleague's vento was rear ended last week. The bumper for Vento costed only 3200 Bucks. With Paint and all they charged him around 8K and didnt keep the car. He paid and went to get the bumper fixed when it was ready. I thought this was not bad and thinks were improving with VW. I was under the impression that Vento's bumper costed around 25K, so this was a pleasant surprise. But I guess the happiness didnt last that long knowing that you just paid 22K for a radiator.

These guys are just not ready to learn probably.

Regards
Rachit.

I'm sorry, does this mean you're going to sell your car OR shift to a private garage for service?

Surely a high price! Skoda needs to make maintenance easy on the pocket.

Hold your horses!

The spares for vento are cheap(relatively) compared to other higher end VAG cars. Fact being, the parts are manufactured locally. So 8k INR wasn't a big one for your friend.

But I've read in multiple places that Octavia's bumpers cost ~25k INR, inclusive of paint.

My neighbour replaced the front bumper in his Laura a few years back for about 22k INR.

Reason: Parts for the Octavia and Laura are imported.

I would suggest you get the radiator repaired at a reputed radiator repair shops and keep it as a backup just in case. Since it was a small leak any good shop can fix it. And if something happens In the future you can get it replaced at a local mechanic

Re: Skoda Laura DSG CR 140 - Ownership Experience.

These type of radiator repairs are easily done by our expert radiator mechanics for a fraction of the cost. Should have been a 2~3 hour job here in Meerut. I do not like the European mentality of use and throw. So much wastage!! Anyways happy to note that the car is back in prime condition and you intend to keep it.
