Low Fuel warning light on Dzire/Swift-can it be activated/retrofitted?

Having used a Santro before it was a surprised to find that there is no 'low fuel warning' light in the dzire(and i assume the swift also).

I have notice the provision for the same just below the fuel meter in the instrument cluster-can this be made to work?

Dude, the swift has the low fuel warning lamp for sure. Not too sure about the dzire though. I assume it must have.

swift does not have a low-fuel alarm light.

@ swift8847: have you seen somebody's warning light on??

It is there in swift ZXi. Not there in Vdi. It cannot be retrofitted easily.

Does it?

That's another basic thing (the last was the rear fog lamp!) that I'll have learnt about my car from this forum.

But I've run it with the pointer right down to 'E' and not seen any lights come on. Judging by the amounts taken to fill up the tank, I've always had at least 5lts left. When can I expect the light to come on?

Chill bro. I have seen this light glow only once in my car. The time I took the delivery. Never after that. I assume that the light glows only when the quantity of fuel is very less. The light doesnt glow even when the needle touches 'E'. Have driven quite some distance after the needle touchin 'E'.

this was for maruti cars in GENRAL.in dzire there is a provision for the lamp but the lamp doesnot glow.
for activating it,i think MASS would be able to do it.

Never seen the light come on in the DDiS, so I doubt it has one (which is absolutely ridiculous!)

Usually I fill at the 20-25 litre mark. Just once I filled 37L. Thats close to the full capacity innit ?

Strange, I have never seen this light come on in my ZXI in all its 70000kms life. I was told that it does not come on in the Indian version even though the light is there in the instrument cluster.

PS: I always fill up at the 'E' Mark and it is always a full tank. Takes in about 37 - 38 litres.

Vikram,

I am not sure about the light but would advise you to rethink your fuelling habits. Kindly refill at the 1/4 mark instead of empty.

Thanks for the replies-there is surely a 'light provision' that can be seen just below the fuel gauge-so activating it mustn't be much of a problem i guess.

Any idea about costs involved?

Yeah I know. I have started doing this very recently. I was just talking about the old days cause I have never seen that light come on.

@TOR - I am not exactly sure what it takes to get that enabled. But I think this is a feature that is controlled by the ECU. I dont think that it would be so easy to enable.

Any particular reason for this?
