guys, need help. my car has done about 41k, the clutch shudders in stop and go traffic. especially in traffic jams when crawling in traffic. is this a sign of the clutch kaput. how much would it cost. the gurus please reply |
Shuddering is not always related to Clutch.
Check your engine mountings, looks like time to replace them.
If the RPM raises violently without any great pickup then the clutch might have gone for a toss.
Just check, it may not be full clutch assembly, replacing the pressure plates might also help.
To check your car clutch plate if it has worn out,
On a flat surface from standstill, put your car into 2nd gear, move your car by relasing the clutch slowly, if the car stalls.. clutch might have worn out

1.Visually inspect if you can spot any cracks on the mount.
2.Shake the engine assembly and check if the fittings are tight.
3.Start the engine and see if you find the symptoms shown below:

For a 2007 model Civic does the power windows button marked as auto cause all the open windows to shut? I find that i have to manually close open windows one at a time.Is there a auto feature which would close all the windows , as the button marked as auto only closes the driver side window if held for a brief moment.
thanks
Since the time I have returned from the last service at the HASS, there is a noticeable increase in the clutch lever play. I brought this to the notice of the SA as well as the mechanic, but they said that is normal. However, if that is actually the case it was never right all along till now. Does anyone have the standard amount of play that should be there. I suppose the excess play would result in excess fuel consumption as well as excessive wear of the clutch plate.
@swaroop
They might have just bled the clutch and it might not have been done properly hence you can feel play in clutch. Civic has a hydraulic clutch hence manual play adjustment like which can be done in cable opreated clutch is not possible.
tell them to re-blead the system.
Btw which HASS in mumbai you go to ?
@sumeet
no there is no such provision for one touch all windows up feature.
But it can be installed as an Add on module which works in conjuction with the original security system of the car and as soon as the car is locked any window which is down would be rolled up automatically. Such modules are available in brands like Autocop etc.

Yes the clutch was bled. I'll get them to do it properly again then. What exactly do they do in bleading? Would repeating it like this have any adverse effects?
As for the HASS I go to Apex Honda, Kurla.
No adverse effects at all. Go ahead and tell them to re-bled the system and if the clutch fluid is not changed in last 1-1.5yrs get that replaced too.
Clutch and Brake fluid must be replaced every year or at the max 1.5yrs to have proper braking and clutch action and also save the master brake and clutch cylinder from the formation of oil residues which affect the life of the cylinders.
And brake and clutch fluid replacement is cheap.

Your observation concurs with mine.
Auto does it only for the drivers side as I have understood.

Yes, I have done the AUX-IN DIY.
And yes, I did have to open the dashboard, get the HU out and short the wires as mentioned on 8th Civic. It is fairly straight forward.
Unfortunately, I do not remember the steps from the top of my head but its exactly as mentioned on this thread on 8thcivic.
Cheers |
I did this last weekend, works fine. @hiren.mistry - Thanks!!!.

Yes. The auto feature rolls up only the driver side window. That's how it is in my Esteem as well.
Auto roll-up feature must be combined with pinch guard for safety. Auto window rollup as part of remote locking (like in Skoda cars) will be very useful though.

Hey,
The clutch of my 2007 V MT civic is very hard. I have use my entire foot to press it, with even the heel leaving the floor. My 10 year old Maruti 800 is butter soft in comparison.
There is no other problem with the clutch. No slipping of gears or strange sounds etc.
Will, as the first step, changing the clutch fluid help?
