Completely agree, but I have seen timing chains snapping, on both diesel and petrol cars. So, its better to replace it at 100k. I dont think it should cost more than 5-7k from ASC.

Sorry for the late reply, guys! My Civic runs on Bridgestone Turanza tyres on stock dimensions. I think they have run for around 10000 to 15000 kms. So I think its a little early to replace them.
As for the shuddering issue, the SA did replace some of the tappets. The clattering has reduced to some extent but is still present. Will check if the injector cleaner fluid solves the issue.

I think the Civic has a timing *belt* and not a chain (please correct me if I'm wrong).

Belts are best changed once every 3 or 4 years even if the car hasn't done 100k kms. The weather cycle will make the rubber brittle over this much time and can make the belt snap, leading to disastrous consequences.

So it should be 4 years (3 if in extreme weather situations, just to be on the safe side) or 100k kms, whichever is earlier.

Perhaps @manim could throw some light, considering his Civic has done 100k kms in a little under 5 years now.

spadix

No.
Civic has a timing Chain. So no need to replace it.

Thanks, sushrutha!

Going back to dot's Scorponok's issue of that flapping sound from the engine at idle, which was diagnosed to the "timing belt auto-tensioner", what was that about, then?

Probably it's been mistaken.
It's timing chain auto -tensioner.
More info on the same here

That auto tensioner was for the serpentine belt. One that powers the alternator, power steering and AC.

BTW, the timing chain also has an auto-tensioner.

To all civic owners,

Guys, if anyone has installed a 7" Touch HU with a good moulding on the civic, please post pics.

I really need to see how it looks to make an informed decision.

You could check out GTO's two threads - his Civic ownership thread (whose exact title I don't remember now but it was the very first "pre-worshipped" thread if I'm not mistaken) and his Civic ICE thread titled "Turning my Civic into a disco".

Maybe off-topic for this thread but does anybody know the 0-100 timing for the civic manual/automatic.

thanks

9 seconds and 11 seconds!

In that segment, Laura TSi is quicker at 8 seconds though.

Anyone using osram nightbreakers or Philips xtreme vision on Civic can give his feedback?

I want to upgrade the low beam by changing only the bulb.

Hey Vasoo,

Can you provide some feedback on your new bulbs and the difference they made?

Just for update

Upgraded the stock bulbs in my civic to Philips stock rating but higher throw capacity ones.
Did upgrade on both High and Low beam. Light throw has significantly improved especially the pathetic low beam. No wire cutting or additional relays required its a stock replacement.

Total cost of 4 bulbs-Rs1900/-

Which bulbs did you switch to?

Can you give the exact nomenclature.

The last I had checked a couple of months back, neither Philips Xtreme Vision nor Osram Nightbreaker Plus were available in the HB4 and HB3.
