Any experience with HIDs. I am thinking about them 4300K for low beams, and 2700K for fogs. There is a problem of el-cheapo Chinese ballasts and bulbs. My son managed to get the original Philips for both in his Swift. One bulb blew out and no bulbs are available.

The last I had checked a couple of months back, neither Philips Xtreme Vision nor Osram Nightbreaker Plus were available in the HB4 and HB3.

Hi Swaroop,

Then what is the alternative, if one wants to upgrade one's civic's headlights only by changing its bulbs?

That was exactly why I was looking for these. Unfortunately even I am yet to find an alternative. I definitely do not want to make any modifications to the head lamp assembly.

Hey Vasoo,

Can you provide some feedback on your new bulbs and the difference they made?

Bulbs are doing well so far. It is definitely at least 30-40% brighter than the OEM ones, even though they claim 80% brighter. It was not available in shops in Bangalore and I ordered it from ebay.

Also I checked Philips website, they do not list X-Treme Vision bulbs for HB3 and HB4. They do list X-Treme Power though.

I have installed 9005 9006 Sylvania Silverstar Ultra and they are much better than stock. The installation was plug and play. It has been six months since installation and they are working absolutely ok.

My white Civic has completed approximately 35,000 km in 2 1/2 years. Was getting the car repainted on account of several scratches all around and two shunts as well requiring an insurance claim. Decided to change color to Urban Titanium during the process. Gave the job to Linkway Honda who I must say did an excellent job and were a delight to deal with.

Here are some pics with the new color:

Axe77,

What was the cost for repainting?

I had to pay about 86k. Total bill was about twice that. Front shunt was little bad. Had damaged bonnet, front bumper, even slight damage to radiator etc.

Axe,

Have you indicated this change in the RC book and insurance papers ?

Congrats Axe77. Linkway has done a good job.

I suggest you should get the new color updated in RC.

Thanks guys. Yes. I am initiating the RC book change and insurance change both. Taking the opportunity to change address as well on RC book so combining the process.

Cheers

thanks
