Alternatively acea a5/b5 5w30 if you can’t get Mobil super - valvoline all climate advanced and idemitsu 5w30 (this one is available in 4 liter cans)

I am looking for an online link for the 4L Idemitsu but I couldn't find one. Online links are for 3.5L packs only. Should I check in some other site?

I was initially planning to order 3.5L +1L of mobil 3000 oil. But I couldn'l find a link for the 1L pack too.

This one seems to meet your requirements and is available in 3.5L and 0.5L cans:

https://www.total.co.in/our-products...uartz-smc-5w30

This one too, and is available in 4L:

https://www.motulzone.com/products/p...ls/4100-power/
https://www.amazon.in/Motul-4100-Pow...6&unfiltered=1

Another option is (have used their 15w40 oil, pretty good):

https://www.gscaltexindia.com/produc...il.aspx?PID=24
https://www.amazon.in/GS-Caltex-Synt.../dp/B012RTWFTK

Online stores won't have much variety in terms of packaging. Better to visit a brick & mortar retailer in your city.

Cheers,
Vikram

The total only seems to say 5w30 no information on the ACEA spec. Only mentions API SL so it is an old oil for gasoline engines.

The Motul 4100 is ILSAC GF4 - I am not sure what cars in India come with that rating, but the API SM spec is again a very old spec for petrol cars.

The Caltex is API SN / ILSAC GF5 again only for petrol cars, and the back of the can seems to confirm that.

If you want 5w30 A5/B5 oils take your pick of whichever 5w30 ones are listed here. https://www.amazon.in/s?k=a5%2Fb5&i=...f=nb_sb_noss_1

If you're feeling rich get one 3.78 liter can of this - https://www.amazon.in/Amsoil-WV01RCA...dp/B00EXBSLBC/

I am running on Amsoil only. I was expecting it to be distinctly better than all other oils I have had earlier which include Mobil 1, Delvac 1 and the OEM. I was sorely disappointed because I feel that it had degraded the quickest. I think it is an oil designed to excel in freezing cold climates and is sorely unsuited for our hot conditions. The Delvac which I had filled before the Amsoil was far better but too bad it wasn't 5w30 though it satisfied the a5/b5 criterion. This had made me look hard at the Idemitsu option you had suggested me earlier and I have found a link to buy 3.5L cans only.

I want to source a 4 L can of a 5w30, a5/b5 synthetic oil. If it is not possible then I want to know whether I can leave the oil level at 3.5L which is 300ml short of what is being recommended and change it at 6,000 km intervals.

I have ordered the 3.5L Idemitsu + 1L Mobil 3000 for now. If I could source a 4L can of Idemitsu I would opt for that.

Sorry, link for the Total oil should have been this one:

https://www.total.co.in/our-products...-8000-nfc-5w30

Check the GS Caltex URL (not Amazon), it clearly says "Kixx G1 Synthetic, API SN, ACEA A5/B5, SAE 5W-30, Fully Synthetic Engine Oil".

Btw, I don't want the oil, "Commuter" does.

Posted same query in the Creta thread, double posting here, in hope to get better responses. Around one month back I got my Creta 1.6 diesel, serviced, second free service, as the service centre in my town had only Servo engine oil, I ordered Shell Helix Ultra, 5w40 from Amazon, seller was Cloudtail India. The service centre guys had no objection if I got my own engine oil. Post service I was expecting a smoother engine, but opposite happened, the clatter of the Diesel engine increased. This worried me, started doubting the genuineness of the engine oil. After covering around 1000km, contacted my known FNG, went to him to get the engine oil changed, just told him about the problem, of increased engine clatter post oil change, he interrupted me and asked if I had put in 5w40 grade oil, I said yes, he told me to use only 15w40, in Hyundai diesels, and they tend to get noisy with 5w40. Drained the shell 5w40 and poured Mobil MGDO 15w40, and the clatter dramatically disappeared, post oil change. Don’t know whether it was the oil grade issue, or the Shell Helix Ultra from Amazon, was spurious. Has anyone else experienced similar issues? Please share your views. Which 15w40 brand should I prefer, is Mobil MGDO ( Maruti genuine diesel oil) good enough, any other options.

Shell Helix Ultra is API CF ACEA A3/B4 rated. Good for petrol and light diesel engines.

Hyundai specifies API CH4 and higher for the older Cretas. Mobil MGDO is probably API CH4.

If you use Mobil Delvac 1 5w40 CI4+ or Amsoil Turbo Truck 5w40 CK4 rated oils, you can use a 5w40 weight oil in your creta without any issues.

Thanks!

What grade are you on. I just got Shell Helix Ultra 5W40 Fully Synthetic after a Liqui Moly Flush at 15K km. The primary reason was to address the engine clatter and also I had read some great reviews of the oil on PIVOT. The clatter has subsided enough to be discernible but now I have a nagging thought that I changed the grade from a recommended 15W40 to 5W40.
The service manager here, a Raid de Himalaya veteran, tells me maintaining the 40 is important cause it is the viscosity at running temperature and with the winter(W) part of the grade you can go down a couple of grades.

The service manager is right. The 5 in 5W40 means that it must have a specified viscosity at low temperatures. The lower this number, the less viscous the oil will be at a given temperature thereby ensuring faster, better flow and lubrication.

The 40 is the second part of the multigrade viscosity and refers to the oil's performance at 100 degrees c (I think). Again, lower the number, thinner the oil at that temperature.

So, under normal running conditions both 5W40 and 15W40 will perform the same - like a 40 weight oil. However, when the temperature drops, the 5W part of 5W40 oil is your friend.

I'm on 5W40 as well. One of the reasons I did not want to go with Shell was that I generally prefer sticking to oils that adhere to the latest specs as per API/SAE etc. This is just a personal preference. Also, the newer specced oils claim to work better with engines that employ EGR technology, high output turbo engines etc.

Again, these are claims. We go with what we can and are comfortable with. :)

I want to order engine oil for my Diesel Ameo. I tried finding the engine oil specification oil online and couldn't find one. I want to know whether Delvac 1 can be used on the Ameo?

P.S - I have bought Idemitsu 5w30+ 1L mobil super 3000 for my Figo 1.5D and have decided to shorten the service interval.

VW 504.00 / 507.00 for your Ameo. The 504 is the petrol spec and 507 is the diesel spec, all such oils are dual use.

In Mobil you need 5w30 ESP https://www.amazon.in/Mobil-5W-30-Fu...dp/B00SFNNTSE/ - it shouldn't be a bad choice in your Figo either.

:thumbs up I have placed order for 4L+1L of the oil you had mentioned. I was having a vague notion that Mobil Delvac 1 or Motul 8100 would be the best, good that I was able to get this info.

I would try to synchronize the service timings for both the cars so that two cans of the oil would be used up completely without wastage since the Ameo requires 4.3L and the Figo 3.78L .

They are all good oils but each car requires a particular specification of oil, so you need to pick a good oil that matches that specification. Make sure what the capacity of the large can is, 3.5 L, 3.78 L or 4 L.

Thinking of trying this oil for the Ford: https://www.amazon.in/Mobil-Super-Fo...=Bajaj%3ASuper

This meets the Ford WSS-M2C913-c spec as per manual. I didn't find any other oil that meets the criteria.

I am thinking of the above or the Amsoil Signature 5W30 for upcoming oil change. https://www.amazon.in/Amsoil-WV01RCA...7EV86DMDVXQ8TH

The mobil super 3000 is indeed the only oil in the open market that meets this Ford standard. There is another from Shell but that is only sold to Ford dealers.

The amsoil a5b5 5w30 should be an excellent oil
