As I have 'Mobil Delvac 1' a fully synthetic oil on my VDi am reluctant to go back to mineral or semi-synthetic engine oil.
Why would Amsoil be a problem when I have 'Delvac 1' now?
BTW, the swift VDi has 90K on its Odo and is of 2009 vintage.

Amsoil won't be any particular problem, since Maruti has an MGDO that's CH4 so go ahead. If your Swift was higher mileage than that it would possibly be an issue.

Random people who thrash it - 70-80K. BHPian so assumed regular servicing and no clutch riding etc - 1.5 lakh ++. eg : Here's a swift that's done 2 lakh and more.

I used Mobil 1 5w30 in my 2016 Figo 1.5D at the 55000 kms oil change. I felt that the oil got coarse by 8000 kms. I wanted to try a better oil hence I have opted for Mobil Delvac 1 5w40 on my 65000 km oil change.
I feel the performance to be better than when I was using the Mobil 1.
Please advise me on this move and share your concerns, if any.
Shouldn't do too much harm but you won't be able to tell with a fresh oil fill vs a full that was reaching the end of its usability.
Run this for a few thousand km and then compare.. I would be interested to know as well.

What's the OEM oil spec for Figo? You should use the same IMO. Mobil Delvac is a heavy duty diesel oil that is too much for small cars.

5w30 that's basically acea a5/b5 with a ton of added zinc (zddp) added to minimize timing chain wear. That additive boosts zinc levels and so makes the oil api sm instead of sn rated. The manual says use that or an a5/b5 5w30.
Mobil Super 3000 x1 is the only Ford wss-m2c913c/d spec oil available on the open market in India and is a bit better than the oem oil.

Would you mind sharing the reason as to why you went from the Ford's specified grade which is 5w30 to 5w40?
In my opinion it would be best to only stick to what is specified in the manual, come what may.

It is a 5w30 A5/B5 so feel free. Technically a petrol only oil if you go by the API specs, but ACEA A5/B5 = petrol + light duty diesel

You'd be surprised. Several Hyundai diesels ask for API CH4 - including such admittedly small cars as their entire previous range of hatches and sedans (Grand i10, previous Verna, Elantra etc). All their guidance switched to A3/B4 5w30 (such as Shell HX8 if you want a good one in the open market) for their newer models.

So for the ones that want a 15w40 CH4 go ahead and get a heavy duty diesel oil, and enjoy life. Shell Rimula, HP Milcy Turbotech etc.
I was about to place order for Shell Helix HX5 Diesel (MGDO) 15W40 on Amazon.in for our Elite i20 (bought in March 2015).
I had saved this Engine Oil to my wish-list on amazon just for future purchase.
Today while casually browsing through the website, I came across this-
Shell Helix HX6 5W30 Engine Oil Recommended by Hyundai for Hyundai Vehicles.
On the front side of Can, it is mentioned as Premium Grade Motor Oil API SM.
But when I checked the back of can, it is printed
"Approved by Hyundai for service fill of fuel injected Hyundai gasoline engines fitted with blow-by-gas re-circulation and catalytic converters
It is also suitable for Hyundai Turbocharged and inter-cooler, direct injection diesel engines fitted fitted with blow-by-gas re-circulation".
What is the difference Shell Helix HX5 Diesel AZ and Shell Helix HX6 AH?
While searching for the difference on Google, came across this link-

I have used Helix HX5 diesel 15W40 MGDO (due to unavailability of NON-MGDO version lol: locally) in the past. So now should I go for HX5 Diesel 15W40 or the HMIL recommended HX6 5W30.
I am concerned about the W30 factor which is lower than W40 as 40 is more suitable for hot climate of ours.
Experts, Kindly advise.

See what I posted just earlier. Any 15w40 CH4 should be fine so stick to diesel engine oils. Amsoil Turbo Truck or Mobil Delvac 1 if you want synthetic, Shell Rimula or a host of other mineral diesel oils though those usually come in 7.5 liter buckets so you have enough for two oil fills.

Check the grade and rating that the user manual mentions and stick to that.
All Hyundai diesels need xxW40 grade.
