Suresh and others - need your expert advice.
I have a 52K run 2014 Safari Storme. I have been using Amsoil 5w40 Turbo Truck from past 2 fills and extremely happy. Recently the availability of Amsoil has become patchy and also the prices have gone north (almost 8K for 7.4L). Please suggest any other alternate which might be a less heavy on the pocket. I intend to keep the truck till it's end of life. Is it advisable to move back to premium mineral from fully synthetic? |
You can use a good mineral like Shell Rimula R4 or Mobil Delvac MX. Or as it is a light synthetic engine - just get a 5w30 or 5w40 A3/B4 or A5/B5 synthetic.
Even the Endeavour has 5w30 a5b5 as the spec .. so pouring shell helix ultra 5w40 won't hurt your engine.
Hi, any suggestion on a good fully synthetic oil for my ciaz vdi? I have been using the shell helux from the past few years and am looking to try something better. Thanks.

Your car needs 5W-30 ACEA A5/B5 spec oil.
I can suggest Quartz 8000 NFC 5W-30 ACEA A5/B5, which is available on Amazon.

Or acea c3 roughly equivalent but more advanced also suitable for DPF engines.
Castrol 5w30 or 5w40 LL (long life) is super premium but over 3500 for a 3.5 litre can.
which would be the cheapest bs6 diesel engine oil which can be used in a pinch.

I am getting Castrol 5w30 for 1950 for a 3.5 liter can which is the required oil in ciaz. Is it good?

This is magnatec works quite well cheap and best for bs4 engines.

Or probably Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 which is not so costly. A lower variant can be Shell Helix HX8 5w30 if costs are a concern.
I have recently changed engine oil of my Punto 90 HP diesel with Mobil1 5W40 FSx2. I have used Shell, Idemitsu, Amsoil etc in past but the performance and smoothness of engine with FSx2 seems to be much better. I got it at good discount on Amazon ~2k.

Are you sure it is 5w30? I have a 2021 2.0 Diesel and the user manual and the ASC have told it is 0w20 ACEA C2. |
It is 5w30 for BS4 engine. Mine is 2018 model. New BS6 needs 0w20

I was also contemplating this for my Swift diesel. I was suspecting foul play due to prices. But looks like you got it right. I will order this too then.
BTW which seller did you choose ? And what was the manufacturing date of the product ?

Hi Ankit, Here is the screenshot of my order. I don’t remember exact manufacturing date but yes it was nothing to worry about.
Hope this helps

Guys please suggest an Engine Oil for my Diesel Altroz, preferably 0W20.

The usual way to go is to either
1. Search the thread archives
or
2. Search Amazon for the specific grade of oil your car needs along with weight (eg 0w20 ACEA C3?) and pick the one that has the best ratings + known brand + suits your budget.
Hello team, this is my first post on this forum since I have been free of boards now :Cheering:.
The car in question is Ford aspire 2018, diesel BS4. We have been regularly using Castrol Magnatec stop start (acea a5/b5, api sn) since 30k service. In the recent 50k service, I ordered the same packaging mentioning the same grade from Amazon but I was delivered same engine oil having different grade i.e acea C2, api sn+. I had a word with few dealers in my city including authorised Castrol dealer here in Sonipat and whatever information I could gather, I concluded that the engine oil despite having different grade is quite similar and the newer packaging is better suited for BS6 diesel (due to the new DEF and 3 way catalytic converter?) and this is just a new packaging essentially similar to the older one. I am asking this question now as after every service there was used to be a quite magnificent difference in the engine note but I couldn't feel it this time and also the mileage is a bit on the lower side. Although, that can be attributed to the intense heat. Speaking of the heatwave can 5W40 be considered in the next 'summer' service.
