I am using Shell Helix 5W40 on my Swift ZDi since 1.4 years and 43K kms. No issues and it feels good overall.

Have you been using shell helix ultra(synthetic)?

Its not a fair comparison. Shell Helix Diesel is a mineral Oil and Delvac 1 is synthetic. Both are good in their respective segments.

Shell Helix Ultra is a synthetic but not recommended for Diesel. Its a Gasoline spec oil

My bad. I meant to compare like to like. So would you not suggest shell helix ultra(5w40), against mobil delvac 1(5w40) for swift vdi?

Yes. What I have been using is Synthetic with a change interval of 10K kms. It is actually MGDO.

I would not recommend Shell Helix Ultra. Its only a CF rated oil. Delvac 1 is CI rated. AFAIK VDI needs at least CH4

+1 never go by brands and words of service advisors most of them have no clue about ratings etc.

The Mandovi SA suggested 'Shell Helix Ultra' and this thread says 'Delvac 1'.

So, which synthetic would you guys recommend for swift VDi?
What are the options in CH4 grade oils?

There are hardly any synthetic oils with Diesel ratings above CF. The only one I know of is Mobil Delvac 1. That's whats running in my Verna CRDI and I'm happy with it.

Right now mobil delvac 1 is the right choice, Shell even if rating matches other properties like amount of detergent which is critical for CRDI engines will be lacking. So if you are really shifting to synthetic, use the right oil.

Dealer might push since Shell would be their wholesale supplier.

I have question related to Ford Figo TDCi engine oil. I can find the 5w30 Mobil oil in the market but it comes in 3.5 ltrs can. Figo needs 3.8 ltrs. The dealer does not sell 500 ml bottles of the same. So can I add 10w30 or such oil to fill the 0.3 ltr shortfall with 5w30?

Regarding engine oil filter, the motorcraft does not sell in open market. Any idea which other brand filter I can use as equivalent replacement?

Avoid mixing different oils for regular use. Check online as well for the 1 liter can. 99rpm can be a starting point.

National Engine needs CI4 specific Engine oil

What oil would you suggest for an old Mahindra peugeot xd4.9p engine?

Regular mineral oil from Castrol would do just fine, or if engine is in good health try Mobile delvac MX.

Can someone please suggest if I should go for synthetic oil or mineral oil, as this would be my third free service of Ciaz ZDI(O). Also I talked to the SA at Rohan Motors Noida and he told that I cannot get engine oil from outside. But the rates they are charging seem overpriced, around 2k for mineral and 3.5k for synthetic. Also please elaborate on the actual advantages that one gets with synthetic over mineral and does it matter to get it done so soon?

I am a noob. Please bear with my stupid questionsstupid:

IMO, synthetic oil is now factory filled hence would advise you to stick to the same.

Ciaz takes in about 3.1 litres of oil so for mineral the prices must be around (₹300-350/litre) - 1100; semi-synthetic around (₹500-600/litre) - 1900 and synthetic it would be (₹1000-1100/litre) - 3200.

In my Swift's recent service they filled Mobil 5W40 oil (3.1L) costing ₹558.08 per litre taking the amount to ₹1730.05 for 3.1L. The SA says it is synthetic but I am thinking it is semi-synthetic.

I am not sure if they are giving customers a choice to fill mineral or synthetic for the current generation cars. Do try your luck. If they agree then go ahead with mineral oil if you feel it is the best.

Another question to add, how long is the life of synthetic oil vs mineral oil? Does getting synthetic oil increase the time frame before getting the next oil change? If yes, how much? Thanks in advance.
