Nahin let me get in touch with an MP guy first! :D
Old days, many in our place used to refer to the tail light / reflector of a bicycle as 'Danger' :) For them , Danger was a noun indicating the red tail lamp.
I guess the term evolved because the tail light or reflector light is used to indicate potential danger (of abrupt stopping, or mere presence on the road) to the vehicles behind...
Is Chillim the Carburettor ?
Dear Sahir.Kittur - "Chillam" is the flange fitted to the end of the transmission output shaft. "Jhula" is the shackle used in leaf spring suspension system. I have not heard of "langot". The answer should be interesting to know.
Now my questions - What is "pata" and "cut out"? (easy), "bandook", "dholki" (intermediate), "murgi ka taang", "bakre ka taang" and "durbin"? (difficult). What is a "ghosalkar pana"? (almost impossible). Which car uses a "Samosa light"? When a guy asks for "1141" at a spare parts shop, what does he want to buy? What does 14, 28, 44, 65 etc mean to a spare parts shop guy? When a mechanic says "end gaya" what does he mean?
Best regards,
Behram Dhabhar
What should 'Gaadi Miss kar rahi hain' mean ? Any Idea ? Lets see the wise cracks.
Chillim should ideally mean the Air Filters.
Nice thread,
Once a mechanic to me " disk change karvao " i thought they are talking about the Disk of the disk brakes on the front wheels. What they meant was to change the wheel..i.e the stock steel wheel.

"pata" - leaf spring,
"cut out" - I dont know the electrical name, but its used for regulating the battery charge & also used to regulate current to head lights
" dholki " - spark arrestor on silencer tail pipes

'Gaadi Miss kar rahi hain' probably means engine misfire.
Langot probably means the fan belt or rubber thingies on the fender which the old cars used to have to prevent water splashing.
"1141" at a spare parts shop, He wants 1141 bulb
Langot - a weird thought leads me to think that it might be the mudflaps! :)
