Re: Increasing the Ground Clearance

I just got the Rogerab fitted on the car and I definitely feel the suspension stiffer and handles better on turns and speed bumps. I need to still test it out on the speed breaker that used to scrap the undersurface of the vehicle.

Attached are some before and after images.

Re: Increasing the Ground Clearance

Came across a new product -- Car stabilizer pro recently.
Any thoughts about it?

Planning to install for my swift for better handling.

Note : My 90% of the drives are on highways only.

Re: Increasing the Ground Clearance

I dropped the idea as my close friend of mine had tried it in his Honda Jazz.
Sharing his thoughts.,

Pros
Definitely will help in avoiding scrapping when the car is loaded upto certain extent.
Can be used inside city

Cons
Cornering stability of the vehicle becomes lesser.
The rubber gets hardened over period of time (will become brittle over years and will lose its flexibility)
Due to this the suspension setup might go for a toss.

Re: Increasing the Ground Clearance

Thanks Nax04 for your reply. I was under the impression that cornering stability would have improved, as that is my prime motive of going for this option.

Re: Increasing the Ground Clearance

I recommend only two methods to increase ground clearance.

1. Install stiffer springs, if available aftermarket for your car
2. Install thicker top/bottom rear spring rubber pad. OEM ones are thin. The aftermarket ones are upto 1 inch thick. This will increase the GC at the rear only.

All these intra spring rubber pads, irrespective of the brand are too expensive for the short duration of benefits they offer

Thank you I'll check with my Service advisor if this will have any warranty impact and I'm not sure why they only sell this for REAR suspension. Any idea sir why not for the front suspension?

Ideally there should not be any impact on warranty. But knowing Honda, they will take any modification as an excuse to deny warranty claim on suspension. I suggest you get it fixed at an independent garage. Hardly 30 mins job.

Front has a McPherson strut. The springs sit over the strut covering it. Hence No such thicker bushes are available for front.

Re: Increasing the Ground Clearance

Ive used Rogerab on my Yeti. Because on a full load of 4 passengerd plus some luggage it would bottom out at times on those huge elephantine speed breakers in Bangalore.
I put them on my Dad’s then Hyundai I20 and it helped him too immensely. It also helped the handling and even the steering because the steering is inherently light and the overall stiffening of the car suspension made a difference when cornering.
I then found another product called Jupitune- same thing really. Fixed that in Dad’s present Toyota Glanza. Again it helps a lot because the car never bottoms out on these bad speed breakers.
Effectively they retard the articulation of the springs and damping of the shock absorbers. Useful in India.
Probably will never find a market in countries where the roads are better and where there are no speed breakers.

Will making the rear of the car go up by 20mm or so change the handling dynamics? Will it affect ABS assisted braking in any way?

I hope increasing the ground clearance ONLY at the rear by this method actually helps the car avoid getting scratched/hit at the bottom while going over speed breakers.

Re: Increasing the Ground Clearance

Friends. Installed Roberab day before and had to immediately have it removed since there it was scraping the inside of my cars suspension wall when going over speedbreakers. I have a 2023 KIA Carens. Any advice or where I can get it installed reliably.

Please do not nullify millions of dollars spent on R&D for safe and comfortable suspension design by fitting such contraptions on your car. At best that device can prolong having to replace a sagging suspension of an old vehicle.

Re: Increasing the Ground Clearance

Thanks @kosfactor. The original reason for my having to try to install it is that KIA Carens has an extremely soft suspension and it scrapes reasonably medium sized speedbreakers. These are speedbreakers that my old swift could navigate least of of all a 190mm Ground clearance vehicle.
