re: Review: 2nd-gen Hyundai Verna (2011)

Don't know, if it has been asked before but I have few queries regarding my Verna Fludic 1.6 SX. It has done 11K and is 1 year 2 months old.

1. Is there any option of enabling speed sensing door locks? I guess, by default, the speed sensing lock does not work.
2. Is there any option of automatic closing/opening of side mirrors with locking/unlocking of car or with ignition or something?
3. I want to buy nice decent seat covers. Something in beige color. What all are the options? I don't have budget to go into costly one, but at same time want to look the interiors classic. Something in leather finish in one single color. Any options?

Will get back if I have more queries.

Hyundai Verna Fluidic:Door Lock & OVRM Query

I posted this query in Verna review thread, but I guess it got moderated and does not appear now. Didn't get any reply from moderator as well so opening this thread.

I have Hyundai Fluidic Verna 1.6SX VTVT, which has done 11K and is 1year old. I always had some queries regarding it, which being located in a remote place couldn't clarify. Even the mechanic at dealer gave doubtful reply.

1. At present, the speed sensing door lock doesn't function. Can it be enabled somehow?
2. Is there any chance that automatic folding/unfolding of OVRM can be enabled, maybe on locking/unlocking the car or on ignition?
3. Lastly, I am in search of some good seat cover. Budget is kind of limited so can't go for high priced ones. I want something to go with beige interiors in single color, which maintains the classic look. A leather maybe?!

Thanks.

P.S. - If this thread does not follow any Team-BHP rules or is at wrong place then I'll be glad if I am informed about it, so that I learn rather than just deleting it as was done to my previous post in review thread.

Mine too is SX, 2yrs 3 months old. Let my try to reply your questions-
1. My car do not have this feature, neither has option to get in activated.
2. No such feature. Sunny & Micra have this feature.
3. Go for art leather, I am using this, looks decent, cost-4.5 k, had uploaded photographs in this thread. Have a look & decide.

Thanks

Re: Hyundai Verna Fluidic:Door Lock & OVRM Query

I think, the speed sensing door lock can be enabled at the dealership, I have read this in this forum. I am not very sure about the automatic folding and unfolding.

However, leather seat covers are going to be very expensive. Since you have mentioned that you are looking within a limited budget, I would suggest you to go to the Elegant Seat cover site www.elegantauto.in. choose the design, speak to them, they will come and do the installation at your home. In case of a particular requirement, they will be more than happy to oblige.

I get my seat covers from them only and also please note that I have no other direct/indirect association with them apart from being one of their customer.

You might have to check with the dealership.

This will require you changing the whole RVM assy. Does any option of the Verna come with the retractable mirrors? If not, then I dont think you can easily do that.

Go to a reputed upholstery shop. You should be able to get one of your choice without much fuss.

re: Review: 2nd-gen Hyundai Verna (2011)

Hyundai introduces new top-end variant of Verna to counter the appeal of New Honda City, launches the SX (O) top variant.
The SX (O) comes with features such as projector headlamp, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, illuminated power window switches and safety escort headlamps.

Quote:
Hyundai intends to bring in yet another new diesel variant of the Verna, CX, in the next few days with a 1.4-litre diesel engine.
The CX is likely to be positioned between the EX and SX variants. The new diesel Verna will boast of features like electro-chromatic mirror, rear parking camera with parking sensors, 2 DIN audio with bluetooth and steering controls, fully automatic temperature control, electrically adjustable and foldable outside mirror with turn indicators, anti-lock braking system and driver-side airbag.
Now the YL1 from Maruti will be more interesting with all the Honda City and Verna otions and prices relaesed, the SX4 will be competitively featured and priced accordingly.

What about the 6 airbags? Have they dropped it or kept it? As per the website its still there in the SX(O) variant, but here in TBHP, there are reports of it being removed.

Was pleasantly surprised to see this on the Hyundai website.. Their FB page seems to be reeking of complaints, and they unabashedly have put it up here..

Overdrive says that the current SX(O) now comes with projectors, auto headlamps, illuminated power window and steering audio switches. It also says that the curtain airbags are gone. Seems like a confusion as they mention that Hyundai is working on a version slotted above the SX(O). Conflicts with the post below which says that new SX(O) is the topmost version.

re: Review: 2nd-gen Hyundai Verna (2011)

All variants of 2014 Verna have got illuminated switches and 2 headrests in the back seat instead of 3 earlier. All the variants having alloy wheels will have 10 spoke alloys. The spare wheel not being an alloy anymore. Apart from these, the SX(O) variant comes with Auto headlamps, Projectors, DRLs, leather seats and Start/Stop button.

The ODI review also comments on the (slightly) improved ride & handling of the Verna as under:

1.
Quote:
At highway speeds, the older Verna is nervous with a dead steering, wallowy dynamics and a bouncy ride. These problems have been addressed to an extent with the updated model. The Verna’s suspension has now been optimised for better driving dynamics with a noticeably stiffer setup. The setup is not in the league of the Linea or the Fiesta, but the improvement is a welcome change.
2.
Quote:
Grip around bends is good and the body-roll has reduced.
3.
Quote:
The steering too has been tweaked. The unnerving play is gone and the unit weighs up well at high speeds. It still lacks feedback though and in-turn, the precision too.

These changes were brought in in November of 2013 itself... Hyundai has a really weird way of introducing an updated model...

I dont think any new changes have been effected for a 2014 manufactured verna as of now. I have booked a 30th Nov 2013, manufactured verna and it has the above features of the SX variant. I checked with my SA and he is not aware of any new features being introduced post the Nov 2013 revamp.

I dont think any other changes have been introduced in the 2014 manufactured Verna. I have booked a Dec 2013 Verna SX VTVT having the mentioned features and am taking the delivery tomorrow (16th Jan 2014). I checked with my SA and he has told me that there are no changes (at least none that he is aware of) in the 2014 manufactured Verna as of now.

True, I don't think there are any changes are done to the models upto SX. However SX(O) may have the inclusion of the DRLs. Last year they were being offered as an after market fitment by the dealer.
