There is definitely some issue with the AC, get it checked with the service center. Usually what they told me is whenever you get inside the car on a sunny day, lower your windows, and put the blower without AC on full to get the outside air (not the inside circulation mode) and after 2 mins, switch on the AC and the windows to be rolled up. Its been effective so far in my case.

Finally got the DRL Fog lamps fitted today. Overall, i think it is great value for money. For the DRLs, i have fitted a separate switch under the dashboard (no drilling, cutting, managed to find a good place near the footwell air vents).

Guys, expert advice requested. Am looking to graduate to a sedan from my Swift VDi. Finally have narrowed down my choice to Honda City and Fluidic Verna 1.6 VTVT Petrol.

My requirements are -
1. Monthly running - 1000 kms
2. City : Highway ratio - 80:20.
3. 100% AC on
4. Highway speeds that usually I go at : 90-110 kmph
5. Expected period of ownership : 3 to 4 years

Swiftie will be retained as a second car. Feedback from City and Verna owners on the reasons for them choosing one over the other would really be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi @sudhirbhan

If it has to be a petrol car, why think any other car when you have shortlisted the City.
It handles better than the Verna, iVtec is a charm to drive, mileage of City is better & resale of Honda's is much better. Its only the interiors of the Verna which are better looking than City's.

I picked the Verna Petrol over the Honda because the amount of features that you get for the price are way more in the Verna (Climate Control, Auto dimming mirror, etc, etc). I am happy with my decision.

About 3 months back I drove the new Verna for a short time. I was watching out particularly for engine refinement. What I noticed at that time was that pickup was not smooth and the engine gruffly. For a decent startup from standstill, the engine has to be revved quite a bit, which in turn sends some amount of engine noise into the cabin. This gets repeated at every gear change due to high engine rev. In short I was not getting the kind of power I was expecting from paper specs. I have since tried to get test drive from Hyundai dealers but to no avail. What is the experience of existing owners on engine power and refinement?

Another question: does the soft suspension make the car bouncy?

Did u drive the petrol or the diesel version? I have a diesel and I have no problem accelerating from standstill.. Infact for me it was better than all other cars which I have test drove (vento, scala, rapid) and it just pulls without revving the engine.

Suspension is a bit bouncy, but when one gets used to how the car behaves, its not a problem.

I am referring to the petrol 1.6L. I find it a bit sluggish pulling out from standstill and pulling across the gears.

Does anybody have an idea what batch of cars have been covered in the TSB for coil spring replacement.
I gave my car for regular service today and checked about the TSB. Was told that it was done for a limited number of cars through a campaign where owners were called to get the springs changed. Since I didn't get the call, it means my car is not covered.
Not sure how true this is. My guess was mine should be covered since it is from the very initial days. Had bought within a month of its launch. Mfd: Apr'11
My chassis number is MALCU41DLBM010050. Can somebody help me check if cars of this lot are covered

Anybody faced problems with misting/fogging of the headlamps? Apparently it was happening since day 1, but since I hardly use the car, I never noticed it. When my dad had raised this issue with the SVC during 1st service, they did not do anything. But I noticed this problem only yesterday. Going to take it up with the SVC right away and get it solved.

Hello motormania, behind the headlamps there is a plastic cap that is fixed by rotating. If there is any gaps or if the plastic cap is missing, there is a possibility of water going into the headlamp while washing.

I have faced the same problem due to replacement of my headlights with higher watt bulbs. During the installation they had to cut the plastic cap to accomodate the extra wiring harness. Water used to go in during washing. I had to close the gaps to avoid the misting.

Please try checking it once.

Thanks, I will be checking it tomorrow as well as get the car over to the SVC to see if there is any other fault. I had a word with the Service folks, and they have the headlamp unit in store. They will replace it under warranty if the need be. Other than that I am going to get the brakes, hub checked for rusting.

I noticed some rusting on the mount, when the wheels were taken off for balancing.

I just bought a carbon grey Hyundai Verna Fluidic 1.6 VTVT SX yesterday, the stock cable that comes with it is for the iPhone 4/4S, while the iPhone5 has the lightning connector. I tried using the UsB cable that came with the iPhone5 but it doesn't seem to work or recognise the iPhone5.

Has anyone else faced a similar problem? I searched all of T-BHP but couldn't find anyone else who has posted about this.

Any suggestions would be more than welcome.

Got my insurance due this month and the Bharti Axa guy collected a chq for 25501 yesterday.
Last year I paid 30k for the zero dep policy from same vendor and this year renewed with 20% NCB.
What I noticed was the IDV was decreased from 9.35 L to 8 L
Not sure but wanted to confirm if in a zero % depreciation policy also the IDV reduces every year ?
Anyone ?
