I agree with your point & my comments were to be taken in humorous spirit.

I am wondering if GM/Ford with their Aveos/ Fusions/ Fiestas - will ever be able to match the Volume of Sales as has been achieved by NHC/ Accent (the new one is also expected) - in this segment...

IMO...No....Honda/ Hyundai as of now will continue to gather maxm market share...& GM/Ford may still remain fringe players...

Hi All, I saw the new cheeky red bright and colourful vibrant Aveo 1.6 and I must say this car looks very good from outside as well as inside. I did not get a chance to test drive it however I came upon this web site where the Aveo was given a thumb down by the Euro NCAP on 3rd March 2006. This review says that - "the Chevy Aveo was singled out for unacceptably high risk of injury to the driver’s chest". I would not risk buying a car which does not provides proper safety, though the higher end model does have ABS and Airbags etc. So why has this review mentioned so?

http://paultan.org/archives/2006/03/...rom-euro-ncap/

My current shortlisted cars are Aveo / Ford Fiesta / Honda City ZX / Maruti Swift (for long run).

Any suggestions as I want to put hard earned money to proper use. I did single out Aveo but this European review on the web site has made me think again.

Tech, the Aveo tested by Euro NCAP would have had air bags which means the high risk of chest injury will be with airbags! God knows what will happen in the Indian version without airbags.

Even Skoda Octavia's tough build bear huge damages in collisions - http://www.vv.se/filer/11632/skoda_o...tor_011126.jpg

Safety is important isn't it? Or does the indian psychology still weighs FE and looks?

Check out more adverse results on the new Aveo on the web here -

Any remarks guys?

Yesterday I accidently watched some TV show where they were comparing Aveo 1.6 against and Fiesta 1.6. They said Aveo interior is better than Fiesta, but in the 0-100 head to head race Fiesta just kept pulling away. If this is real, then performance wise Aveo 1.6 < Fiesta 1.6 < Baleno. I am glad I bought the baleno last year instead of waiting for these so called new cars.

That was the CNBC Autoshow. The Fiesta they said is more of a drivers car but then Hormazd is associated with that show and always has a soft corner for Fords. PERIOD.

See, Baleno is quite a good car, I wonder why we do not see more of it on the roads. It looks quite magestic like smaller brother of the mercedes.

Still it did not sell as much probably because of the steep initial price and because of poor economy of 9-11 kmpl. Otherwise it is a solid car.

Aveo is quite ood looking which is why it may even sell inspite of people not knowing that crash tests do not approve it. Ford is probably better built - a one piece solid tough car. Aveo seems slightly fragile and delicate but very beautiful. Just my extra sensory perception probably.

But I am still searching which is best. Come on we need more reviews...

I liked AVEO

I first test drove Aveo about 10 days ago. the car had just run for about 100 kms I found gear shift slow and once again I test drove it 2 days ago the car had done about 500 kms to my surprise I found gear shift positive and acceptable.

Busa Your review and other commts has helped me make my mind in favour of Aveo. Thanks.

I also test drove Honda City ZX Gxi. I find Aveo more zippy though City gear shift is more positive. I think Aveo is excellent value for money . Good job GM. I only hope its running costs are less !!!

Hi guys I was gonna go for NHC but the launch of aveo has stopped me to go further.

I went to a chevy showroom recently to have a look and feel of aveo.

For a first look, for its exteriors NHC is much better than Aveo, but aveo might appeal to people who like soft, round edges and a not so sporty styling.

In terms of the Interiors, bye-bye NHC and hello Aveo.
I am sure that who ever owns NHC will also praise aveo's interiors.
The way they have blended the stereo with the dashboard is a great work done and also the quality of the interiors looks much costlier than it may be.
I would request the Existing NHC owners to have a look at Aveo's interiors and give their opinions as it would help guys like me who are deciding for a mid segment car.

In terms of the goodies and the specs Aveo is much better than NHC, I mean NHC looks overpriced. I mean guys look at Fiesta & now Aveo, if these people can give airbags, abs, tubeless tyres, alloy wheels, height adjustment seats, nice company fitted audio systems then why the HELL NHC doesn't provides any.

I mean look at the pathetic looking system fitted in NHC ( both zxi & vtec), aveo has a far more better system in terms of quality & looks.

In terms of the interiors space aveo is good and gives out ample space to both the front & back passengers.

I have not driven aveo, but did tried out the gear shifts which didn't impressed me at all as it was a longer shift and NHC leads in this manner.

I would surely go for a test drive of aveo and will give you the specs for the same.

But, surely NHC beware!!!
