Some impressions are amplified and reinforced. The idea of an online forum such as this is that readers can make their own opinions after going through all personal (and therefore influenced) write-ups - there will be extremes of opinion as well as some balanced ones.
I have owned the Safari, and now own a Skoda (Yeti). Due to the colourful history of both brands on the forum neither decision was especially popular, but my decisions were based on my own assessment of my requirements and the vehicle's capabilities w.r.t the same, taking inputs from objective reviews.
For every pissed off Safari (or other brand/vehicle) owner who rants and raves in public, there may be hundreds of others who are perfectly (or reasonably) satisfied - these are usually the ones who buy a vehicle for what it offers, and not for what they want it to turn into. I did try such things, but that was a learning experience for me - not about the vehicle, but about life. The pragmatic ones move on to another vehicle/ brand when the vehicle does not make the cut w.r.t their realistic expectations and warn others.
Every user needs to go through such objective decision-making. If you want an opinion given to you, you can always buy any of the several magazines in the market - there are plenty of opinions there.
The new safari has been despatched from the factory on 2nd sept.
It might reach bangalore dealers by next couple of days.
The only question still not answered is "wind cutting noise is reduced or not".
The engineers who had gone for training confired that the delay was due to wind cutting noise.....
The vehicles will be in stockyards.

Deepak

That would probably leave us with:
Safari LX 4x2
Safari Storme LX 4x2
Safari Storme LXa 4x2
Safari EX 4x2
Safari EX 4x4
..... |
I don't think they should price
any 4x2 variant of the current model above Storme.
If they do launch a Lx 4x4 (in current avatar) that would be interesting. Current Lx 4x2 and 4x4 under a million bucks and the Storme above it. :)
Thats nice, so soon we will see the storm, am sure TATA is all guns to get strome on board, delay is costing them lots of prospective customers!
btw wind noise issue? it was pretty bad in Sumo Gold, though my 6months old Safari does not have this issue(touch wood:).

If this news is indeed true then what it TATA's game plan for Storme's launch?
Would have expected at least some kind of "build up" towards the release announcement.
Regardless, hope they give 4x4 across the board and price it competitively; but then, if pigs can fly...

The article in post #395 seems to suggest that the Storme will be launched in a phased manner and the N India launch is on 24 Sep. In this case, are you sure that Stormes are being shipped to Bangalore?

Perfect. I am going to print this post and hand over a copy to every single person who wants to know why I bought a second FIAT.

Does it make sense to launch a vehicle like this in a phased manner ? No. A more logical approach may be metro's first.
Just spoke to a dealer (Millenium Mobility) in Pune. He said that the Storme would most likely be launched around Diwali, not before that.
He also mentioned that the company has temporarily stopped manufacturing the VX 4X4 model pending announcement of the Storme launch strategy. Tried calling Tata Motors directly to confirm, but they redirected me to the same dealer again !! Can anybody else confirm this?
Anybody spotted strome at the stockyards ? No clue what's up with this vehicle
Spotted a registered White Storme parked in one of the Apartments in Kothrud. It looked grand and shiny. Loved the road presence and stance.
This one must be owned by an employee of TML.
I am quite intrigued by this whole "When will they launch" scenario? Looks like the launch of the XUV was a mystery and the launch of the Storme will be history!
What exactly is TML upto here? Do they want to drive these vehicles till their end of life before they feel confident enough to launch?
Coming to think of it, is there something really wrong with Storme that they are taking so much time to launch? I mean I have seen the Storme on the road (personal registration) a few months back and yet we do not even have a tentative month on when they will launch.
Just imagine if after such a delayed launch, and after such extensive 'testing in real conditions' the vehicle actually develops some real niggle and then the Tata's will have busted their credibility through-and-through. Basically I feel the problem for them is maintaining parts quality from vendors in serial production in face of penny pinching habits of the TML mandarins. So lot of crappy parts do filter through to actual customers, who then have to bear the brunt of it all. It can go really awry.
Tata's will be left with no credibility if Storme goes the Aria way and in that respect it is better if they do not launch the product at all if they are doubtful.
