Launch is confirmed for 17th October, according to Rohin Nagrani of BSMotoring.

^^ It was "confirmed" for the 24th of Sep as well. So now, I will wait for official news from TATA before I get exited!!

Thanks for snippets akhilesh. Any info about the 4x4 variants? Will the new one have just 2 trim levels, Lx and Vx?

There is also an EX version in middle which should have Fabric Seats and ABS by the look of things. Info on 4x4 is already posted on this thread. There will be no GX for Storme.

Akhilesh, any idea of the base model price ? for e.g the Aria Pure 4x2 is quoting at 12 .05 lakhs ex showroom with an official cash discount of Rs 1 lakh taking the exshowroom to 11.05lakhs. The SE mentioned there will be another variant launched soon below the Pure at about 1 lakh less = Rs10 lakhs

question is will the Safari base variant be less than the Aria or at par

This is going to be interesting phenomenon in context to the pricing and availibilty of 4x4 model. I am eagerly watching this space. I wonder why is tata making so many options available initially or i got it wrong :deadhorse!!

I think I'm one of those rare people who prefer the new Safari (Saf Storme) over the current model...Current Safari is still so popular and just doesn't seem to lose its snob value..

Went to Tata showroom in Okhla and spoke to one of the guys and they too seem to be apprehensive on new model launch....

I was interested in trading my Toyota Altis Diesel for new Safari Storme...
It seems it's still some time away...

The VFM Aria you mention will be launched as Aria LX and is also almost ready for sale. The product, as you already mentioned, will most probably get the 9.99 :D tag at launch.

As for Storme, rest assured while there may be overlap between some variants of storme and Aria, this product will most certainly be priced better than Aria. Expect lowest version to stay well under 10 Lac ex-showroom.

At the same time, prices will have little to do with current safari prices due to feature set difference between two vehicles. For example, they may introduce ABS on LXa version onwards while current safari only has ABS on top two variants (GX and VX).

Note: Any information mentioned herein is 'speculative' in nature. :uncontrol

Askhilesh
Thanks. You seem to be well connected with some one in the know at TaTa. I have a few queries. Any likelihood of the base variant being sub 9.5lakhs with ABS ? Will this also be launched in the initial phase itself ?
Even if its 9.5lakhs, it would be 1.8lakhs over existing LX ( sorry I am tempted to compare ! )

So the equation is

Current Safari Lx (+ ABS + hydro form chassis + dual mass flywheel + new interiors + new exteriors) = Storme Lxa ?

Does the stuff in brackets cost 1.8lakhs ? Does not stack up unless the Lxa gets a nice music system, alloys and a little more goodies.

Guys - do I sound greedy ?

Err.. doesn't that make it a new vehicle altogether? New vehicle = new parts = new cost structure?

I am kinda confused now. Will both the Safaris sell alongside with all their variants, current Lx, Ex, Vx and Storme Lx, Lxp, Lxa(?), Ex, Vx, Vxp?

No idea about VX but current safari will most surely continue to sell in LX and EX.

Storm Variants are : LX, LXa, EX, VX, VXp
LXa - LX with a(BS)
VXp - VX with Leather Seat.

So, Going by your Speculated Information, Safari lineup would be as follows:

Safari Dicor Lx- 8.28 L
Safari Storme Lx- 9.00 L
Safari Dicor Ex- 9.92 L
Safari Storme Lxa- 10.5 L
Safari Storme Vx- 11.8 L
Safari Storme Vxp- 12.5 L (Package might contain Leather Seats+Wooden Trim+DVD player+LCD Screens)
Safari Storme Vx 4X4- 12.8 L
Safari Storme Vxp 4X4- 13.5 L
(Ex-Showroom Delhi)
Note: All this is the production of my Sheikh-Chilli Brain.clap: Now just hoping all this just go BANG-ON.:D

As per previous posts where there was a scan of the Storme owners manual, the Storme does not have a dual mass flywheel.

oops - thanks. Just made some changes in bold to reflect the discounts at which Safari is already selling

also i am not speculating from beyond the Vxa model because i feel the Safari going into the XUV territory ( no matter how well its specced ) is suicidal.

That was something above the owner's manual. It was the service manual itself! You can check it out at your nearest TASS.
