Awesome pricing!clap:
4X4 world here i come
I think that they could've had some kind of a cheaper introductory price to kick the sales off and gradually increasing it depending on the response.
Also, I don't get why aren't they giving even an option of 4x4 to all the other models? Someone needs to ask this or did I miss it? I was in a meeting :(.
I was also wondering, if anyone wanted to buy the highest version in Bangalore, it would be close to around 16L, but then with a few second hand fortuners hovering around 16-18L for 30-70k kms done, I think that some people like me would rather go for the second hand Tfort. Do I make any sense or is it just me who's thinking like that stupid:.
tejas
Its a GOI type presentation, come on Tata break away from the mould. This just shows the traditional mindset which translates into the products too. I think the downslide will continue till Tata imbibes the latest market vaules.
I shall again re-iterate price for LX atleast is higher by ~1-1.5L
Good news is that old wine The Safari is not going anywhere, they have listen the loyal customers and fans.
This is really good move TATA. clap:

To add to it, there is the additional option of an extended warranty of one year or 50000kms whichever is earlier.
I feel that the warranty offered is quite some show of the effort TML has put into the Storme.
Guys TATAs will always remain TATAs. I dont know the built quality of the new Safari Storme but the website takes unnecessarily long time to load. Hope the vehicle also doesn't behave like this.
A lot of harping on the "Variable Geometry Turbine Technology " for the turbocharger. isnt it there in the 2.2 VTT as well ?
@Rahulk76 : I doubt the engine layout has changed. the cover has definitely changed to a smaller one.
some mention of continuing the current gen safari as well, but no clear plans.
And yes, it was a very boring presentation, no clear shots of the storme presented, no interior shots of dash etc.,
10.7 for EX ex showroom delhi looks ok pricing, considering I bought my Safari 5yrs back for similar price OTR, in Bangalore. the increase can be attributed to increased costs, and positioning.
Is it that the Storme VX is actually the old Safari GX equivalent? Because at the VX level, the new price is very close to the old VX price.
The jump for the EX is really steep at more than a Lac.
And the mind boggles at how TATA could get it SO wrong (even by their standards and historical precedents) with the base LX pricing that is now swollen by close to 2 Lacs!
Looking at these prices suddenly my depreciated 2.2 Ex 4x4 feels like gold. Time to pimp it up :D
Well done Tata. With approx Rs.16lakhs OTR Bombay for the VX 4x4, looks like you just showed everyone how to take aim and hammer your own foot.

What about the LXa? How much will that cost ex-Delhi? Or is this 9.95L for the same variant? Or is such a variant only an urban legend?
Cheers,
Vikram

For us, well yeah :D! But I wonder on how many people would be interested in a 4x4 safari anyways, nonetheless, makes sense for us to keep it for a while more now that the options are closed. OTR Bangalore, it will be close to 16.2 or something.
I think the old safari will get a price cut and tata's expect most of the sales to come from 4X2 version ( i guess that is true for the current safari as well).

Vikram,
The price for LXa and VXp is not displayed yet.
The presentation was just showing following prices.
LX - 9.95, EX - 10.77, VX - 12.37 and VX 4WD - 13.66
So looks like LXa will be in between LX and EX.
Thanks,
Vishal
I like the pricing, the looks and finish (as whats seen on the pictures etc). What next is i will wait for a team-bhp review of the car. What i do not like about current safari is
- Quality, Fit-&-Finish
- The very soft suspensions which sway the car at high speeds on flat roads (But make ride comfortable on bouncy roads at slow speeds)
- The roof AC which looks more like after market fitment
I hope they have done enough to make improvements in these areas. Apart from this there needs to be enough space to put CASKA (or something similar), that can play Video/Audio/Sat+Nav/Radio/Bluetooth.
