Re: Mini Cooper S and Mini Convertible : Driven

CKD pricing should make it really irresistable. I am excited we finally have a convertible this side of a Boxster which doesn't break your bank (well almost)

Loved the open air feeling in the Mini

Re: Mini Cooper S and Mini Convertible : Driven

Just been reading thr latest CAR UK Magazine article. The blue convertible was driven to Ladakh on the worst possible roads and made it without a puncture etc.

When they sell the press fleet off, think very hard!

Very cool, I can't think of any other car @ the Sunburn in Goa. There's going to be a "Mini Lounge" for some folk too.

Re: Mini Cooper S and Mini Convertible : Driven

Hyderabad hasn't been very encouraging in sales. I am hoping BMW won't waste too much time in getting these cars through the CKD route. I hope the roadster makes it to India too in a year or two as I want one

mini cooper s

i am considering to buy a Mini Cooper S. I currently have two options:
1. Go in for a pepper white which the dealer has in stock.
OR
2. Pick up the highly optioned demo car the dealer has.

request BHPians to tell me a good deal in terms of discount i should be able to get on both the above mentioned cases.

Regards
Tribal

Re: mini cooper s

I would be careful of the optioned one especially if it has been given to journalists. Recently CAR drove one to Ladakh and back (without any problem during the drive, I wonder about the condition of the car afterwards).

However, you need to evaluate how well maintained it has been. Demo cars come under two categories- those that are maintained well and everything put right and those which have been truelly rogered. I say that since a friend of mine bought a demo Q5 and has had no issue. Check for accident damage and if that is not apparent negotiate a big discount along with an extended warranty. Remember options do not hold their value. .

The white one will give you more peace of mind but it all depends on what you want. Take a look at both, your gut feel will also assist in making a decision.

How many kms has the demo car driven?

Since you will be getting a 2012 mfd car you can expect some discount, I am not sure how much, you will need to haggle with a few dealers, maybe even outside Delhi to get a ballpark figure on what discounts are being offerred.

Re: Mini Cooper S and Mini Convertible : Driven

@ sahil, it has done 13k Kim's. On road is 38. They are currently offering it to me at 30. Do you think 28 would be doable for them? If yes, then I will pick it up.

Ask and see! If it is registered, you can negotiate as your owner no 2 and the new car loan will not be applicable at prevailing rates

@Sahil, since i consider you to be extremely knowledgable where luxury cars and current market trends are concerned i would like you to answer my question:
i am being offered a new white mcs which is 35.5 on road for 33.5 What according to you would be a doable deal for the car, considering it is a 2012 mfd car?

The deal that you are getting is very close to being the best possible. It was two weeks back when i expressed my seriousness to buy one and i was offered a lakh off to begin with. Gradually they started offering more depending on the loading. To me the color of my liking and the loadings of my liking are more important than few thousands more as a discount. If you have to buy one urgently then go for it else you may have to wait for 3-5 months for a customised car to be imported and delivered to you.

I hope you are aware of the complete model change of Mini Cooper this year. Use it to bargain a bit more.
