Re: The Siberian begins his expedition - Hyundai i20 CRDi Sportz

I have given my car for it's 1st service today.
Below are the complaints I have with the car.

1. With AC/ Fans etc off and with windows closed, I am still able to get a slight amount of outside smell inside. Only at low speeds.
2. Clutch has a slight rubbing feeling as you depress the pedal.
3. Rattle noise in the rear back door.
4. When the car has been running in the rain for long, rear suspension makes a thudding noise when you take the car through bumps. This does not happen in dry conditions.
5. Change the damn useless third rated quality floor mats.

will update when the car returns at the end of the day.

Belated congratulations on your car. Very detailed review.

You may have seen my reply to your post on Arvind's thread. Wanted to check something with you - Do the floor mats have pins to hold them from sliding? Or whatever they are called. One SA told me that both options are available. Is that true?

Re: The Siberian begins his expedition - Hyundai i20 CRDi Sportz

There's confusion regarding recommended tyre pressure for a Normal load - the manual recommends 33 psi, whereas the sticker on the driver side entrance recommends 30 psi! Is this is a goof up by Hyundai?? Your thoughts?

Re: The Siberian begins his expedition - Hyundai i20 CRDi Sportz

Time to dust out this old thread and give an update on the Siberian.

It's been a year now, and two services have been completed.

Positives

- Extremely good power at all gears (slightly less on 4th). Third gear is where all the fun and action is.
- Build quality is top notch. Even the front and back bumpers are of better quality compared to other cars in the same price range.
- Seats are still firm and comfy. The fabric hasn't worn away even a little bit.
- Gearbox is very smooth.
- NVH levels are moderate. Just enough for you to hear the grunt when you hit the turbo.
- Car is a dream to drive on both highways and city roads.

Negatives

- Very bad quality tires. 3 punctures in 1 year, and the tires lose pressure every week. All I do is city driving.
- 1 or 2 vibrations on the back doors just don't go away.
- Very bad quality stock wipers. Had to change them after 3 months.
- Mud guards are useless.

Pardon me, but dont the last three disadvantages dispute your claim that the build quality is top notch?

And regarding build quality, let me remind you that the Volkswagen Polo and the Fiat Punto are in the same segment and offer far better build quality than the i20.

P.S: No offence intended.

By build quality I meant the sheet metal quality, the quality of the bumpers and such.
Also, wipers and mud guard design is not termed as build quality

Is this a one off case where the particular tyre maybe faulty? I have done around 13k kms on my car across cities and highways and there has not been a single puncture till now *touches wood*
