If the RTO has given it this way then OK else you'll have to get it done as it says in RC Book to avoid hassles with the police guys.
The reciept issued by the RTO is of 44 and they charged a premium for it.

Sameeracer,

Can you please post day light close ups of these guards for more clarity?

The front one looks too heavy per me.

Looks bit heavy. Guards are not recommended on a monocoque vehicle, as fortuner is a ladder construction it should be OK.

While the rear guard looks good and will protect the rear bumper, the front guard is kinda blingy and might result in more damages to the bumper if someone nudges it.

What did they cost you and what brand are they?

Well the front one is 9000 and the rear 8000. In total 17000 which includes fit out and also the plates to fit them.
I just got them after a byclycle hit the car from behind creating a dirt mark.
I hate all accessories usually but was left with no choice.
Probably will get rid of the gaurds as even I dont like them.

Personally, I think it looks classy and enhances the otherwise dull personality of the Fortuner. The pipe should have been thicker and I think they missed out covering some parts of the front.

Nawab Sahab, since you have spent your money on it, I would suggest you use it for a few months. It might grow on you.
Else if you feel that the shopkeeper will refund you the money you ve paid, then remove it.

I will drive down to LKO sometime early next year. Would like to meet you in person then.

The pipes are really thick. And the crome finish is also classy. The only wad part is that if I hit some one they will break the entire bumper.
The gaurd should have been made with atleast two holdings on the chasis. Now with a hard hit and one nut each it will simply twist. This makes it useless. The shopkeeper said that he will replace with a diffrent plate. Lets see

Youre most welcome to come, in fact a senior bhpian manujj is a school buddy. I am at hazratganj jehangirabad palace, thats my pad. Just let me know a few days in advance. It will be great to meet you.
Regarding the front gaurd no issues on refund as I know most of these guys. Infact hes not taken the full money. He said u try it and if it pleases ur taste continue with it.
The front gaurd is pretty useless with the present plates as it tends to bend inwards. The rear gaurd is pretty much secure. I got them fixed at night and the other morning I left for nainital. So im pretty much stuck with them at the momemt.

Regards the route to Nainital a huge tip for prospective travellers. If youre going from lucknow/kanpur that side, go towards sitapur and take the gola route. The bareily road is hell. From gola go to pilibhit -sitarganj and then to straight to chor galia and boom kathgodam. For details contact me. Thia route has the min bad road ie. 6 kms.

Not to mention it could also interfere with the airbag sensors in case of a front collision.

Re: Super Smart Brute - The Toyota Fortuner

The black coloured plastic guards, which are sort of body hugging, look much more better on the Fortuner, if at all you are interested in getting these bull bars. These regular steel finished bars look very odd and out of place on the Fortuner.

Something like these look a lot better:
