Hey, I had bought it from Paytm when there was a 50% Cashback offer running. Paid Rs 1200 and got 600 back.

Just checked the website and found it to be out of stock.

re: 'Chasing Life' with our Maruti Alto K10 VXi AMT (Fire Brick Red). EDIT: 10,000 km up

MILESTONE UPDATE: 10,000 kms clocked

Date of Purchase: 31.05.2015
Milestone achieve date: 20.04.2016

Months / Days taken: 10 Months and 21 days OR 326 days since purchase the car has finally reached its first major milestone in its life.

Been a very reliable and fuss-free ownership experience till now.

Driving Conditions:

City: 75%
Highway: 25%

A/C Usage: 90%

Transmission Mode used: 100% in 'D'

Mostly used single either by wifey or dad. Dad especially is in totally love with the AMT and the ease associated in driving it through city traffic conditions. He now prefers the K10 completely over the Ertiga which is eating dust since couple of months.

A small review of how it is been fairing till date:

1. Engine and transmission: The second best engine after the 1.3L DDiS line up for Maruti is this K10. Automatics (be it in any form) are not known to be fast and responsive to throttle input but this is a different animal altogether. Even if the car is driven in 'D' mode, the response drive-ability both at low and mid range is excellent. Top end is a bit harsh (post 110 kmph) which makes it rough (NVH wise). Anything near 90 kmph or below, the car is happy and silent. I am not trying to indicate that the engine is stressed but the insulation isn't up to the mark now.

The AMT has been fairing well without any kind of niggles (read juddering or shifting errors) since purchase. The car is driven in Auto ('D') mode 100% of the time. Upshifts happen pretty fast keeping FE in mind which it is does reflect when FE is checked. Just slot it in D and the car can run all day long till there is fuel in it. Now my wife is the process to perfect the hill-starts on the AMT. The car rolls back the moment brake pedal is released so she is in process of using the handbrake + accelerator simultaneously.

2. Fuel Efficiency:

I have checked for over 5 full tanks and we are getting FE between 16.8 to 17.6 kmpl. The last full tank FE we got was 16.6 kmpl. (100% A/C and City driving).

Here are some images of the car:

I need help from fellow BHPians on ways to get the shiny and smooth finish on HU panel. I am not understanding how to get it back.

Pretty happy with the decision to choose this over the Celerio AMT.

Since the 3rd service is due, will update with the billing details post the 10K service.

Cy'a until the next update.

3rd Service (Free) or 10,000 kms UPDATE:

'Chasing Life' with our Maruti Alto K10 VXi AMT (Fire Brick Red). EDIT: 10,000 km up-alto-bill.jpg

Regular service with no complaints so got the car back in 2 hours.

Currently the odometer at the end of 1 year is 10,350 kms. Been reliable with no problems arising that I am reading here on the forum on issues with the AMT faced by other members.

Been getting a FE consistently of 16.3 - 16.8 kmpl.

Keep an eye on the FE for the next couple of tanks & do report back - mine dropped after the 1 year service!

Anurag,

Nice review. Thanks.
I am considering an AMT to replace my Figo in coming months.
Alto K10 AMT would be an option

Thank you Sir. Happy you liked the review.

Regarding warranty claim, it is getting rejected - Reason - "There is 'nothing wrong' with the HU except for some small scratches". Get out polished Saar all will be fine. Anyway with usage scratches will happen Saar, why are you taking tension!"

Listening to it, I was like

It looks smudged? Did you have the protective plastic layer for too long? Did you try cleaning with any cleaning solution?

I removed the protective plastic layer within a week after buying the car and since then I use a soft cloth to wipe over it and it look shiny as new till now.

I removed that plastic cover the next day

It has scratches all over and feels rough to touch. Just the way how it feels on paint over spray.

Planning to take it to 3M once for my mental satisfaction.

Re: 'Chasing Life' with our Maruti Alto K10 VXi AMT (Fire Brick Red). EDIT: 10,000 km up

Had bought a pair of Philips Xtreme Vision LED bulbs for Brake/Tail Light from a Friend who was coming down to India. Saved much as he bought there and brought it rather than me buying it from Amazon.com for $37.5 excluding postage + import fees.

I thought why not try it on one bulb to see how it fares. Liked the brightness overall!

Open the two star screws as shown in yellow and then with a flat screwdriver + a cloth inserted between the screwdriver and body, pry open the tail lmap housing to free it from a grommet

Re: 'Chasing Life' with our Maruti Alto K10 VXi AMT (Fire Brick Red). EDIT: 10,000 km up

Totally forgot to update the thread with the Maintenance Cost Protect (MCP) that I availed on the car.

Details of MCP are here: Quoting RavenAvi's post from his Swift thread.

Quote:
There are 3 types of MCP plans for regular MSIL cars - Economy, Executive and Premium, which can be purchased for 4-year and 5-year durations (from the date of purchase).

- Economy plan is basically relief from all labour charges during paid services, with an additional 2-3 items thrown in, such as Alignment/Balancing, Washings, Pick-up/Drop, etc.

- Executive plan is Economy plan + a few essential parts/consumables such as engine oil/oil filter, coolant, etc.

- Premium plan is top-of-the-line, with the Executive plan + most parts/consumables such as total AC cleaning, RSA, replacements which cost a bomb, etc.
I have availed the 2 years or 20,000 kms - Executive Plan.

taking inspiration from you I too went ahead and did a DIY install, however over anything less than a perfect road the IRVM vibrates like mad. Could you suggest a fix? It's incredibly annoying especially when in night mode since you see the rear and then its shake shake shake

Hopefully you have put that rubber cylinder like thing behind that prevents the IRVM from vibrations.

It sits between the RVM stick and windshield.

Update after a long time

Car is running well with no issues at all. Yesterday it clicked 15,000 kms.

Name: ForumRunner_20161225_043853.png
Views: 2408
Size: 260.4 KB

Dad and wife are loving the car to no limits.

In the 15K, I would have hardly driven 300 kms. Honestly couldn't call in love with it at all even though engine is powerful for the size of the car. Automatics don't cut it for me.

Fantastic review of the perfect city car. I am considering it as a future replacement for my 2008 Alto Lx, but I feel that the older k10 shape (like my Alto) was much better looking than the current avatar.

Would that IRVM be a direct fit for my current Alto?
