Re: Driven: Jaguar F-Pace

Have deliveries of the F-Pace started? I saw a red one this morning that was MH registered already and not on temporary plates as most showroom cars are. Seemed like a customer vehicle.

Re: Driven: Jaguar F-Pace

ACI reports that Jaguar India will be launching it's first-ever SUV, the F-Pace, on October 20th, and JLR India is planning the launch in a grand style.

The F-Pace will initially be available in 2 diesel options, estimated to be priced between Rs 65 lakhs - Rs 90 lakhs.

A 2.4L petrol will join the ranks in February 2017.

Quote:
Company sources say a 60-foot tall mock-up of London's The Shard skyscraper is being constructed on Marine Drive in Mumbai for the F-Pace release. The tallest building in the UK -- 1,016 feet, with 95 floors -- the Southwark structure looks like a shard of glass (hence, the name) and is a symbol of excellence in British engineering. Jaguar wants to convey the same superiority with the F-Pace at the India launch.

The base model will get the 2.0-litre 180hp Ingenium diesel engine, which recently debuted in the XF sedan. The other is the 3.0-litre V6, which puts out a lusty 300hp and 700Nm of torque.

Jaguar F-Pace announced to be launching on 20th October with bookings open all over the country. Nothing surprising here, the car will be brought by the CBU route and the prices and variants will be as follows;
1. Jaguar F-PACE 2.0 l (132 kW) Diesel Pure: ₹ 68.40 Lakh
2. Jaguar F-PACE 2.0 l (132 kW) Diesel Prestige: ₹ 74.50 Lakh
3. Jaguar F-PACE 3.0 l (221 kW) Diesel R-Sport: ₹ 102.35 Lakh
4. Jaguar F-PACE 3.0 l (221 kW) Diesel First Edition: ₹ 112.55 Lakh

The engine options are surely a let down IMHO and the presence of Luxtec (non-leather) seats in a car that will cost a minimum of 75L on road anywhere in India. More pics and details soon, attaching the official spec sheet for now.

Yo, those prices are crazy. 30 lakh gap from a 2 Litre to a 3 Litre engine? Like from 75 they shoot straight up to a 100. Even with the depreciating pound value, though i don't think it makes a big difference. Perhaps something around 85 to 95 would've been right. At 1.12 cr, i guess in the major cities where there are extra taxes and what not, it'll hit 1.5 cr on road?

JLR management has totally lost it, can't believe its the same company which use to plonk 5L V8s in E Class and 5 Series competing cars. Sir Ian Callum keeps mentioning "we are a sports car company" and there second home country's management is busy offering engines which can be easily smoked by its rivals be it on road or tarmac. Not to mention crazy pricing, it's frustrating

Jaguar building an 18 m tall beacon for F-Pace India launch

Earlier this month, Jaguar had revealed prices of the upcoming F-Pace SUV. The company had also announced that it will officially be launching the car on October 20 in Mumbai. The British luxury car manufacturer has now revealed a few more details about the launch event.

The company has stated that it is building a beacon that stands 18 m tall beacon at the venue of the F-Pace's India launch. The beacon is being designed and sculpted by Arzan Khambhatta and will have lights and projections.

Narain Karthikeyan, India's first Formula 1 racing driver will be present at the launch. He is expected to drive the first F-Pace in the country. Musician Shankar Mahadevan is expected to perform at the event.

The F-Pace India launch will be available through a LIVE webcast on www.jaguar.in. The event is expected to start at 20:02 hours on October 20th, 2016.

Re: Driven: Jaguar F-Pace

If you have the right product, with the right features at the right price, then you really don't need an 18m beacon to shout its arrival. Jaguar's Indian operations should really pull its socks up, and start local assembly, and provide really positive service back-up to really challenge the Germans.

Re: Driven: Jaguar F-Pace

So guys, I'm now officially banned by JAGUAR INDIA on their facebook page for a mere mocking of their #setthepace hashtag where I just said it's misleading because you talk about setting the pace but the engine options that F-Pace gets in India is the SLOWEST in its segment followed by a smiley. They are not only a mere British company but their social media team also give a typical British Raj experience

Do share with us what exactly you said and what went down. This is amusing, cause they don't infact "set the pace". All they set is new prices and break the barrier the germans had put forth with respect to pricing.

The only "pace" they set was the XF 5L V8 with their pricing. Rest all had average and/or below par engine.

I just inboxed them few suggestions, I'll just tell them all briefly -

1. Variant availability: Lack of S and R Sport models despite the fact almost all pictures on their facebook, Instagram and twitter are of either R or S models and sad part is unlike BMW's M-Sport these are not even optional by Jaguar India. This also includes rims. They don't have anything optional.

2. Super limited engine options for eg lack of 3.0L variant in the XF range whereas all its competitor has and lack of 2.0L diesel in the XE range where the major competition is by a 2.0L diesel only

3. Non-India specific information on the website, even if you click the contact tab on jaguar.in it will give you UK email address and even the factory tour in the Indian website is mentioned of the UK and if you waste your time messaging which I actually did they will simply respond please contact JLR India without telling you HOW?

That's all I said to which the facebook team didn't care to reply, later on when I wrote a mail to Dr. Speth I got a call from CRM saying it will be considered and details will be corrected which I'd like to point out - it did NOT. Atleast she was kind enough to listen.

The banning happened when they started the hashtag #setthepace, to which I just replied to one of the post saying "Dear Jaguar India, with all due respect, provide better engines in your cars or else the hashtag will seem misleading, the car is available with a 2.0L diesel which according to your own figures does 0-100 in 8.7 secs which is slower than everything else in its segment. Where are the good old days gone when JLR use to plonk 5.0L V8s in 5 series and E Class competitor or at least the 3.0L V6 with an emoticon and there you go, it hurted their ego and without any kind of reply I got banned.

Re: Driven: Jaguar F-Pace

The Jaguar F-Pace has finally landed in India. In an event held at Marine Drive, the F-Pace was launched at prices starting from Rs. 68.40 lakh.

The launch of its first ever performance SUV meant that Jaguar had to make it b-i-g. This included building an 18 meter tall 'Beacon' which basically became a landmark for the event. The event hosted Jaguar prospective customers and the media.

Narain Karthikeyan made an entry in the F-Pace where he drove it up a 20 degree incline ramp which was perched at 4.5 meters above the ground. This was later followed by an amazing performance by Shankar Mahadevan, though he didn’t drive the car, he decided it was best for him to stick to singing.

The F-pace diesel will be available in 4 variants:
2.0 L (177 BHP) - Pure - Rs. 68.40 Lakh
2.0 L (177 BHP) - Prestige - Rs. 74.50 Lakh
3.0 L (296 BHP) - R-Sport - Rs. 102.35 Lakh
3.0 L (296 BHP) - First Edition - Rs. 112.55 Lakh
(Prices are ex-showroom Delhi)

The deliveries are expected to begin from November 2016.

Finally the curtains were lifted off this R-Sport:

Narain Karthikeyan drove that Jag up this ramp where it stood through the event:

Some posing after the small feat:

Even Shankar Mahadevan was surprised that he was singing for the launch of a car. Nice of Jaguar to reel him in:

Official Press Release:

Quote:
(MAHWAH, NJ) – April 12, 2017 – Today, Jaguar North America is proud to announce the 2017 Jaguar F-PACE has been named the winner of the 2017 World Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year Awards at the New York International Auto Show.

The performance SUV is the fastest selling model Jaguar has produced and is only the second vehicle to claim the historic double in the 13-year history of the World Car Awards. To win the pair of trophies, the F-PACE saw off the competition in a vote of 75 influential motoring journalists from 24 countries.

Dr. Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover CEO, said, "The F-PACE was designed and engineered as a performance SUV with exceptional dynamics, everyday usability and bold design. Winning this award endorses the talent and great work of our teams that have delivered the world’s most practical sports car and Jaguar's fastest-selling vehicle”.

The World Car Awards jury comprises influential motoring journalists and to win the 2017 World Car Design of the Year prize the F-PACE saw off the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet and Toyota C-HR in the final three.

Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar said, “The F-PACE is our first ever SUV but it is clearly recognizable as a Jaguar and for it to win the 2017 World Car of the Year trophy vindicates our decision to bring our unique design principles and dynamic qualities to a new sector of the market.”

Mike Rutherford, Juror, Director and Vice-Chairman of the World Car Awards/World Car of the Year said, "Jaguar has done the unthinkable by first securing the World Car Design of the Year award, then lifting the big one - the overall World Car of the Year trophy. With F-PACE, the British company and its proud and talented workers have taken on and beaten far bigger, wealthier European, Asian and North American rivals."

The F-PACE is Jaguar’s first performance SUV and has contributed to record sales growth by attracting new customers to the brand.

Receiving high acclaim throughout the year, the F-PACE was also named winner of the Daily News Auto Award for Luxury SUV, Popular Mechanics Automotive Excellence Award for Crossover of the Year, and Autotrader Must Test Drive award. The Jaguar brand also received the 2017 Kelley Blue Book Brand Image Award for Best Car Styling – Luxury Brand.

These awards come after a record-breaking year for Jaguar in North America, with 2016 sales up 116 percent and a breakout performance of the Jaguar F-PACE, which became the brand’s top seller in its first year. In 2017, this momentum continues with Jaguar sales up 132 percent in March for the brand’s best sales month since 2003. The Jaguar F-PACE also had its best sales month since its start of sale in 2016.
