My guesses are:
  1. It is produced by a Swedish Company
  2. It needs the space and stiffness to mount the friction wheel
  3. It needs to be fast enough
  4. Not worth the cost for the Swedes to re-engineer a high tensile tissue box

Interesting! So many things will simply import!!
LCA and Tejas should continue but simpler things like this whatever surface friction tester thing should be made in India first. This seems a totally overkill CBU import.

How many of these we need in our country? One per airport or maybe two per airport? So assuming 20 high traffic airports, we need 40 (smaller airstrips can borrow from larger airport nearby).

Assuming a service life of these equipment is five years, simply it doesn't make sense (build vs buy) for either govt or pvt sector to invest in tech and production for such minuscule demand stuff. Matter of defence is altogether different matter, only economics can't apply there.

This looks like a private import as it has different wheels and misses out on the wheel arch claddings, which the V90 CC gets in India.

Indeed, its a V90 which is modified by a Swedish company called "Sarsys" and is used primarily to test the surface friction of runway to ensure safety of Landing's / Takeoff's of Aircrafts.

Since the company is based out of Sweden, they source the vehicle directly from Volvo and modify it to fit the electronics and sensors and ship the vehicle directly to the buyer, so no chance of Ertiga or any Indian manufactured Cars to be used for it.

Re: Driven: Volvo V90 Cross Country

Hi Bhpians, wanted some quick thoughts around if buying a pre-owned V90 CC is worth it or is it too much of a risk?

Re: Driven: Volvo V90 Cross Country

+1 to the above question. The V90 fits the bill for our family very well. Less body roll, but decent ground clearance for touring. Lots of space. Safe. Call me an outlier, but I find this car pretty sexy too!

There is a single owner, 2018 V90 CC with 85k kms on the Odo with service history. Going to see the car tomorrow - but curious to know if current V90 owners would recommend buying this car with so many kms already done.

- Is the car reliable?
- Will the engine be good for another 1-1.5 lakh kms?
- Any specific issues with this model which I should be aware of before buying it?

If single owner which has done mainly highway miles, I would say go take a look! Not heard any issues so far
