Have an update on Bangalore City Driving conditions mileage.
I got 15.5 KMPL with around 50% AC. This is below my expectations :Shockked: as I got very good in Higway driving conditions.
Hey Guys,
Here is the update from the creator of this thread ;-)
I have covered 11000+ KMS !!! My car was the first one with my dealership to complete the third service.
The car has become silky smooth after the third service. I recently upgraded to (ZXi) alloys and car looks great now.
The mileage is pretty consistent, 17 in city, 21 in highway with 100% AC.
Top speed so far is 165 KMPH, it could definitely do 10 more KMPH I believe.
There was slight rattling in the boot door, but was fixed after the service. But when I did my last service, the service guys "water serviced" my JBL AMP :-( Had to spend 1k to get the mosfet and powersupply replaced.
No major complaints so far, only one that remains is the engine shutting down at times when I brake hard.
Vishnu
Cool Vishnu. Nice to hear. With this rate probably you will become the first person to complete 1L kms :) I am going for second service this weekend.

Congrads Vishnu on being first to complete 3rd service in this forum. I have some queries -
1. Where was the service done?
2. What were the expenses (Breakup if you have at hand) and
3. Did the Fuel filter cleaning done with draining of water from Fuel filter done?
Thanks.
Hi Vishugs,
Will you still rate the gear box and mileage 3/5 (As you had rated in the first post) after 3 services? Do tell, its an important factor for me to make a decision...

Today i received a letter from the Suzuki dealer acknowledging the ECU Issue (Excessive Engine Vibration) and asking me to take my car over for a proper inspection and rectification of any issues free of cost. Thus the issue is now officially confirmed but i am extremely impressed by the Maruthi customer service.
In the 2 months i owned the car i have received about 4 calls from Maruthi customer care regarding the performance of the vehicle and feedback on he purchase. I also received 3 calls from the 3 Maruthi service centers in Trivandrum reminding me of the first service and 1 letter acknowledging the ECU issue and offering free checkup and rectification. |
I guess Maruti really puts it's back into the customer service bit! They have a huge service network and they are up to refining this with continuous feedback and great customer service, no wonder my first 2 cars have been Maruti's. I think it is really unbeatable customer service in India second comes Hyundai and they also know that customer is King and treat him that ways (Of course there are always a few bad apples!) As in my earlier reply to the SUMO incident, I raise the same question - why are the other home grown car manufacturers not catching on this kind of service delivery ?:Frustrati It is a night mare to get even a Test Drive from the Tata's or Mahindra's, they do not call back they, they do not have the car when you arrive etc. This kind of stuff really makes it a sad experience. I think its actually the customers of these manufacturers are to be blamed, you start accepting bad service and they get into a habit of it and soon draw a baseline of customer service for the Indian customer which is utter rubbish.
Congrats on your third service in 7 months time. Sounds like your spending more time inside the car than outside;)
At the release of the Swift diesel people were reporting 20+ FE (May be on highways) and i felt that my first FE of 15+ was very low. From the second filling onwards i have been getting a constant FE of 16+.
I covered 3k in 3 months but in the next 3 months the car was almost idle as i was hospitalized and later asked not to drive. Now i have started driving again and the odo now reads 4K and the second service was also completed. This time the FE touched 17+ in city with about 70% AC on.
I have started feeling rattles after the second service. It was almost ok before service so i believe they have left something loose in there. Took the car back to service center to fix rattles but some of it still remains.

Here is the expense breakup
Parts
Element (Diesel Filter) Rs.386
Mobil Delvac Engine Oil (3.5l) Rs.566
Weight Sticker (for Alloy Wheel) Rs.150
Labour
Wheel Balancing - 5 wheels Rs.275
Wheel Alignment Rs.180
Consumable Check/Replacement Rs. 60
Its pretty much acceptable for a diesel car. The first two free services were totally free though.

The service manual listed this so I presume they did this.

I started loving the short throw gearbox, now I hate all the ones with longer throw, so I think, earlier it was an issue with adopting with new style.
Mileage, no complaints, in any worst condition it doesnt go below 17. In the highway I am pretty sure if I drive slowly (which I usually dont), the mileage would be much better. When I am on highway for half the distance atleast, I am mostly over 130, I constantly cruise at 140-150.
One of my friend who owns a petrol swift used to say that his car has an unstable feeling after 130s, but have never faced it in my car. May be the extra engine weight keeps it stuck to the ground.
We can achieve an good mileage i.e. of around 22-23 kmpl , if u drive around 60-70 km/h in the 5th gear ( dont know about the exact rpm range , cause no tacho offered in Ldi ).

That is true I got 26.8 KMPL as the max. mileage with 10-20% AC driven in 60-80kmph range and the RPM is in 1400-1800 range.
In my Laura i.e. a M/T , it has an on board Display , i.e. shows the FE , well on my way back home from Dadar @ around 1 in the night i got an average of 22.9 km/l (i.e. a distance of about 28 km) . Drove @ around 1.75 k rpm .... ( @ around 60-70 km/h in the 5th) . So if an heavy car such as a Laura can give that kind of an average , after being 1.9 L , 105 bhp , the sameway a 1.3 L should be capable of a bit more .

what is shown on digital display is just that moments mileage and can't get that mileage on a long run of 100 km. You may get close to 75% of that on an average over 100 km.
My mileage is average of tank fill to tank fill (very first tank fill when I was very cautious about running in the engine)
