Re: Ford Figo 1.5L Dragon AT - Ownership Review

Small update :

Odo has crossed well over 6k Km, zero issues so far and has been an absolute joy to drive

Did few not so hard launches from 0-100, I must say, topend is pretty good. Gearbox in sports mode hits redline before shifting up, haven't tried to take manual control during launches yet.

Performance between 2k-3k rpm feels much better now. Mileage has been above 10kmpl under all conditions. No complains here.

With 144 being implemented due to Corona Virus, car will take much needed break.

The car looks lovely!

Looks like Ford preferred to export this one more than to sell it here.

Here's wishing you many more happy miles

Casual update :
Car has covered only 500km after my last post, have made sure to take it for short spins to get essentials, so no worries about low running. Mileage has been 12.5kmpl (MID) within city thanks to empty roads.

Re: Ford Figo 1.5L Dragon AT - Ownership Review

Quick update:

Car has been munching miles effortlessly, clocked 10500km so far! As expected has been an trouble free experience. Second service was done at Hans Ford Porur, overall experience was pretty good, SA didn't try to push any extras and bill amount was 1.9K.

Car is being used mostly on the highway hence mileage on the MID is always close to 14+KMPL. Have added 5D mat to spice up the interior, might go for roof wrap soon.

Will post more details and pics later.

Good to hear this. I am still at 4500 mark.
Car is being used in rural area since lock down and I am impressed with bad road handling too.

True, last part of my commute has quite bad roads, the way suspension works is amazing!

Few pics as promised :

Stats for the past 2K KM:

Decent mileage, but running has been 90% on highways/open roads, so can't expect the same for normal city commutes.

Lower than expected figure, thanks to COVID.

Ford Figo 1.5L Dragon AT - Ownership Review-img20201011wa0009.jpg

This was the average for around 70km on the highway, tried it just for fun, but never again FE was back to usual level just within 3 days of normal driving

Average speed:

Few added convenience:

5D Mat, makes cleaning easier, one more step to improve the interior.

Taking the much needed rest, closed parking should help me to keep the paint in good shape.

Ford Figo 1.5L Dragon AT - Ownership Review-img20201011wa0011.jpg

Paint looks good, hope it holds well. Have seen pre-facelift version lose its shine fast.

Few observations so far:

Have said this earlier, will say it again, if you want to enjoy this car, do use the sports mode. In normal drive mode, it feels just like any other NA 1.2L engine, once in sports mode, it just leaps ahead and makes the driving experience enjoyable. Manual control in S mode too is good.

Steering feel is one of the biggest USP for the Figo, amazing feel and feedback, makes driving in twisted roads a delight.

Suspension is great too, ride quality is great too, but while taking corners at very high limit, one can feel the need for stiffer setup. One from the Blu should have been made standard.

One thing this car misses out on is the drama that we expect from the usual high performance variant, this is more like a powerful GT variant rather than an sports one.

Promise to post more exterior pics next time

Re: Ford Figo 1.5L Dragon AT - Ownership Review

Those 5D Mats look good.

I am struggling to find a good floor mat for my Aspire as nothing is covering the rear seat foot area properly. Specially the area under front seat where rear passenger could stretch his/her legs. Does it cover that section? How much is the cost & if it's an online purchase, can you please share the link?

Thanks.

Paid around 7k and did not bargain as I bought it from a friend, this covers the under seat area reasonably well, you can notice it from the pics I posted. Most accessories are hard to find for the Figo as it doesn't sell as much as main stream hatchbacks.

Re: Ford Figo 1.5L Dragon AT - Ownership Review

Didn't like the chrome treatment on the front end much, enquired few shops about wrapping, but most of them said it would peel off, so was not worth doing.

Looks like painting them black is the way to go, decided to wrap them myself to get an idea of how it would look, this could also be a way to see if wrap does hold up in the long run. Below is the end result! Not bad right ?

Wrap job I did was HORRENDOUS to say the least, hence no close up shots

I had a chat with the service manager recently and they're bringing back the AT versions of figo with paddle shift and some new cars from Ford are expected(Kuga, Bronco and Focus)

There's a wholesale mat dealer in Delhi called Aavaahan who provides 7D Mats for any car and delivers pan India. Cost also is very reasonable (2.5-3k) depending on the shipping location

A pic of the mats in an EcoSport(pardon for the poor image quality)

For chrome grill, wrap will stick on with no issues, since parents didn't like the wrap on my car, I had to remove it the same day. Actually, the wrap on your car looks good!

P.S. ignore the dirt on the car as the roads near my house are like a dirt track. This is a gloss black wrap done on a chrome grill and no peel off at all. OEM chrome does not peel off very easily

One quick suggestion, you can try installing paddle shifters in your figo, that will elevate the driving experience.

Some sources say, car will be back with 1.2L AT and not the 1.5 Dragon.

It has been holding up good after couple of washes/highway runs in heavy rain. Only part that might peel off is the one on the fog lamp housing. Let's wait and see

Car still has plenty of warranty, so might wait a while and decide.

Yes, it's the 1.2 Dragon not 1.5

Yeah ,then it's better to wait till factory warranty is over
For the stickers if you give it to a sticker shop, he'll make sure that the edges are covered and peel off doesn't happen
