Thanks for sharing this. In my experience, 1$ in the US typically reflects 100 INR in India post taxes etc. So it is in line.
I can see that you also didn't change the fuel filter. Nice to know that you got a courtesy vehicle too. Which car was it
Looking at the dealership name - Wasn't Bobby Rahal a racer? I remember there is a Rahal straight at Laguna Seca before the corkscrew.
He was also one of the 3 people who helped develop the Honda NSX along with Ayrton Senna.

Thanks for the heads up. My plan was to primarily use this route for regular maintenance parts which seem to have a large margin in cost.

Regarding complaints on the original parts, if you buy something from a dealership abroad, they will normally ask your VIN and will sell you the parts only if there system allows.

It will be in the best interests of MB India to rationalize the prices to international levels, if they want to improve their sales. Hope, someone does take a note.
Thank you Turbanator! Great insight from someone with such vast experience with their own cars.
I agree that MB India need to revisit their spare part cost strategy. It can certainly be more affordable and will encourage owners to stay with the dealerships even after warranty expires.

Hi Nitrogary,

I did get the Oil Filter changed. Its the line item - MOFCM - OEM oil and Filter change, and the below section mentions the oil cost and the filter cost.

The dealership is Bobby Rahal group - Mercedes of Pittsburgh. I don't think these folks have anything to do with car design or the legendary Ayrton Senna

Courtesy vehicles are pretty much a standard thing here. Distances are pretty far and there is really no public transport. They only charge 2$ per day for the loaner.

I had a choice between a C300 and a GLB. I wanted to check out the C300. Honestly, I wasn't impressed with the ride quality. The engine is peppy, but I like the sublime and smooth ride quality of the GLC way better than the c300. the glc just soaks in the variations on the road as compared to the c300.

As luck would have it, that S63 was at Silver Star workshop on Saturday.

Maybe a subtle hint from above? I am finding AMGs extremely attractive.

There was a stunning C63s AMG and another C43 gathering some dust, waiting to stretch their legs.

Very informative service update thread! For threads like these, Teambhp rocks!
After a long hiatus, the GLC will drive northwards 1400 kms(Blr - Odisha) in 2 weeks and I shall document that and post it in the appropriate thread. A German cousin of GLC(Q3)took us to Sakleshpur over the Diwali weekend and Oh Boy it didn't disappoint a bit. Jotting down the details for a Travelogue and will post soon.

Yes, I understand your experience. The C class sedan is a different vehicle. It does not absorb the same amounts of bumps and surface imperfections etc. I noted this last month when I drove my friend's W205. It's a damn neat car though. Driving the GLB could be interesting though!

Next Service, for sure. I'll try that one.

Side Topic: I have always been intrigued by the Model Codes ( Like you mentioned W205 ). It amazes me as to how autoheads remember the vehicle codes and identify with it.

What is this code actually called and where is it generally mentioned ?

This may be of interest to you
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catego...-Benz_vehicles

I'll add a couple of things here.
1. The marketing name of the vehicle - C class, E class, etc.
2. The code - which is giving away the chassis / body type details. W205 means its a C class saloon / sedan in the 2014-current generation. Previous gen C class was W204. In our case, the GLC is called X253.
3. Engine nomenclature - X253 is having the OM651 engine. This will complete the hardware spec of the vehicle.
4. The badge - 220d lets one know the tune and fuel used.

Thank you. I was looking for this specific info - Like W205 and X253 . It's not that is stated obviously anywhere or in the manuals.

Where do we get that info from as a ready reference ?

Just finished a 1500 kms drive from BLR - BBI in 2 days with a halt in Vijayawada. GLC was very comfortable on long drives indeed. Collecting all the photos and will write a detailed Travelogue!

Re: My Mercedes-Benz GLC 220d Progressive - Ownership Review

hello all
Is anyone facing issues with the MBUX system in the facelifted GLC 220d?
Mine is a 2020 model manufactured in june.
Everything was fine until 1 month post delivery. The MBUX system hangs up for an indefinite amount of time and freezes with "Mercedes benz" in the screen. It wont respond to any of the buttons on the central console or the steering wheel.
I did try stopping the car and switch off the ignition to restart it.It did the trick on most of the occasions but the problem keeps recurring often.
My service station did the necessary checks after having raised the issue and it worked fine for them whilst my GLC was in for its 1st service.
I did a google search and managed to find a hack to restart the MBUX by pressing and holding the ''RADIO & *" buttons on the central console. Its doing the trick for now but occasionally the issue does crop up.
Yet to come up with a solution from my dealer.

Any suggestions/ideas welcome..

Hi Pradeep
Any update on this issue? Maybe a software reflash might help?

Re: My Mercedes-Benz GLC 220d Progressive - Ownership Review

With Sarang's permission I am posting these here

A new members has joined my Automobiles family

The Red Baron - aka GLC 220d Progressive

I took delivery of this on 1st March 2021 from Sundaram Motors, Bangalore

Have done over 6,000 km since. All going good and happy with the Car. A real performer and behaves well in highways and in congested cities as well.
Takes the rough and the smooth with real aplomb and no complaints.

Here are few pictures of the car

Did that during my last service in February. Technicians said they didn't notice anything of that sort while the vehicle was with them.
However it keeps cropping up though only very occasionally now.
The fix is to restart the system by holding and pressing the "radio/media" and the "favourites" button in the center console. Seems to work every time.

Many congratulations Ram for the lovely addition to the vehicle family!
Indeed the GLC is a capable vehicle everywhere and totally exceeds expectations everywhere. While it manages city traffic easily, its most comfortable cruising with lazy elegance on highways. Is your car having the 18 inch wheels or 19 inch? Would like to see more photos, ownership experience etc from you
Also it'll be nice to see the RD, Bonnie and GLC together in 1 pic. Their colors are indeed very complimentary.

Well, while the issue seems to go away when you restart the system I'd be concerned about the vehicle post warranty. If this leads to an expensive repair / rework and Merc denies liability it can be a difficult conversation and lead to frustration. Maybe I am overthinking?

Our GLC has covered 29k kms. Its time to get new insurance, service and tires for the car.

I am thinking of Pirelli Scorpion Verde MO tires. Everyone has correctly suggested Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tires which are absolutely the best in class. They are 20k extra than Pirelli so I am having 2nd thoughts about them

Car has been flawless over the past 8-10 months. Our lives changed forever when we were blessed with a baby girl this May so everyone was occupied with the little one. The car was always there. She was brought home in the GLC which was a very special moment for everyone.
We also did some really nice trips in the past year.

Dec 2020: Pune - Bangalore - Kodai hills (Odanchattram) - Bangalore - Pune
My mom and I drove down to Bangalore where my uncle stays. 5 of us from there travelled to Odanchattram where he has a small piece of land in the hills. Total distance of trip - 3000 km.

On the way we crossed this milestone

I have worked with Tata Hitachi on some of my projects so this was a mandatory pic at Dharwad.

Ran into some nice eye candy in Bangalore
My Mercedes-Benz GLC 220d Progressive - Ownership Review-c63-amg-bangalore.jpg

Bangalore Odanchattram (via Dindigul) road is lovely. Very less traffic and clear tarmac. I believe roads in Tamil Nadu are in general nice.

Our luggage with 5 people meant the car was fully loaded. There was no difference in performance!

Had a fantastic time in the lap of nature.

Tried a little bit of off road. The 4 matic handled it with super ease! I was very impressed.

Bit of posing around!

On the way back we crossed 24k mark.

Mom drove back for most of the distance from Bangalore. I watched Australia-India test match from the passenger seat. Figured out a nice jugaad for a small TV lol

Couple of trips to Mumbai
For a friend's wedding
