Do I need to visit the Maruti Suzuki workshop for getting this latest update? Or is it some sort of OTA update? How to check if my 2020 XL6 is eligible for the upgrade? Please guide. Thanks

I had the same issue. Only the center one fit. The left and right ones needed drilling in the body which i was not comfortable with.

Hi Shashi & Madtiger,
Cross posting from another thread, I thought might be relevant. This duster seems to have got the water drain channel blocked. You guys have added insulation to your doors. Hope your additional insulation in the door it does not block the water channels in any way. Do check.

Two links which you should study in detail:

Link 1

Link2

Link 2 fixes the jugaad for front which I did using large washers.

You will get it from workshop.

Exactly why I didn't go with the floor covers. Good you didn't get floor drilled. I got front member drilled during engine guard installed only because it's a bolt on part, I can change it any day I wish. And even after a year, when I recently inspected the hole, it was as good as new with zero rust formation.

Thanks for the concern. Any insulation we have added is far away from the water drain channels. The foam which we have used is closed cell foam, which doesn't absorb water, plus any such material is outside the vapour barrier, thus even moisture touching it is not a possibility.

Shashi

Hi Aashishnb,

Well the door damping (sound deadening) material is applied on the outer sheet metal. The inner foam and additional damping material is applied to door cover. None of these installation come in way of water egress or ingress. I paid additional attention to avoid installation around factory mounts.

Hope this clears the confusion.

A.

Re: My first car: 2020 Maruti Suzuki XL6 Alpha MT Review

Drove the new Automatic Zeta XL6, and my conclusion was, the AT is not only liveable, but is loveable!

-Unlike my XL6 which had dashboard rattles from Day 1, the center trim and HU feels solid in this car. Fingers crossed. I tried pressing the center trim and it didn't creak line mine did before I fixed it. Seems Maruti has taken the feedback and worked on it.

-Due to the upgraded sound insulation my car has, the AT XL6 felt quite noisy and the traffic noise was way higher.

-The car has just 190 km on the odo, and the FE on MID is 14.3kmpl.

-There is a bit of lag but never felt the car to be slow or lacking. Gearbox drops cogs very aggressively and gives the pull required.

-We upgraded the horn to Hella Trumpet, adjusted the Headlight and Fog lamps and the boot floor lid fix was implemented. Still waiting for Alpha's OE camera.

My first car: 2020 Maruti Suzuki XL6 Alpha MT Review-20220101_180543.jpg

-The AT XL6 is on Bridgestone Ecopias while my car is on upsized Michelin, the difference in ride quality was quite evident.

-AT gets these two extra screens in the MID:

In short, the AT is a very competent package and for those who want even more comfort, should surely try it. It won't set your pulses racing but it surely won't disappoint you. Efficiency too is respectable.

Signing off with a pic of both the cars:

Hi Shashi, just happened to see this part number on Boodmo: 72421M73R10 and it says “Cover, Engine Under Side RH”

What is this which is available at just 180/- ?

Says compatible for Ertiga and XL6.

Sorry, may be just me (who isn't in tune with product updates), but when you refereed to new Automatic Zeta, is it the same 4 speed auto gearbox (that this product was selling with)? Or is the XL6 going to come up an updated AT gearbox (5 or 6 speed)?

Yes the one which came in our family has the 4 Speed AT. There are rumours that future Marutis will get K15C engine with 6 speed AMT option, let's see if the XL6 gets it or not. But compared to AMTs, the 4 Speed AT is far superior, number of gear ratios be damned.

Shashi

Thank you for the clarification, Leoshashi. As a flag bearer owner of the XL6 experience, I got 1 more query to ask. How effective is the air blower housed in the roof, for 2nd and 3rd row?
In hot summer months, will family seated in 2nd and 3rd rows (when they do), be able to sit comfortably with just the air blower, without cooling coil for the 2 rows?

Will be a disaster if the new auto box expected in the updated brezza is an AMT. Will be good if they bring AMT in LXi/VXi and 6 speed TC in ZXi/ZXi+

Sorry but you are wrong here, It's not just a blower unit but a full fledged cooling coil made by Subros, housed on the roof. It sucks cold air from front, cools it even further and throws it to rear. This entire theory of mere blower unit was circulated by some self proclaimed Youtuber expert, which is still being believed.

I've mentioned it many times, including first page and will mention again. Here is the layout of the entire HVAC system:

My first car: 2020 Maruti Suzuki XL6 Alpha MT Review-ac3.png

As you can see, the rear cooling unit is connected to refrigerants line. The rear system is a slave unit which works only when AC is activated from front.

Throw is sufficient, it has 4 vents. I aim the outer two towards middle row passengers while the middle two vents are directed towards last row. The middle aisle in between captain seats helps, and there is absolutely no issue of cooling at rear when both front and rear ACs are turned on.

Regards,
Shashi

Hi Shashi, well one of those scenarios where I’m quite happy to be wrong. Because a proper AC for the rear passengers, helps consider the XL6.

But you’d be surprised (or not), that even Maruti showroom guys inform customers that it’s only a ‘blower’ unit, not an AC. My friend picked up an XL6 manual Zeta (?) on Diwali day, last year. And while selling him the car and also during handing over the vehicle, the showroom staff confirmed to him its a blower unit (I had asked him to get a confirmation from them, while taking delivery).

So glad to see it is a proper AC unit. And my bad, that I couldn’t see this confirmation in the earlier pages of your ownership thread. Thanks again!
