You need to order just once, it will pick up 4 automatically since you ordered a pack which has 4 pieces. Hope it's clear.

Re: My first car: 2020 Maruti Suzuki XL6 Alpha MT Review

Dear Shashi,

I got my XL6 ZETA delivered in Mar 2023 and was trying to upgrade my HU but everything fails OTA ,APP, USB). Mine is smart play infotainment unit but what worries me is that HU is running software version MD-EXT-0622. Googling a bit shows me this code is very old and non up gradable with many people complaining about it.

Just wondering if there is a way to upgrade this code & where can i find the official code release date. Is it possible that dealer might have swapped the HU since the car was at dealer end for 2-3 weeks before delivery.

Looking at your posted procedure below

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-...review-25.html (My first car: 2020 Maruti Suzuki XL6 Alpha MT Review)

The code you installed is MD-0820 and mine is 0622. This further makes me believe that Firmware on my HU is pretty old. What further cements my fear of change in HU is that there is no DRM radio in my HU while manual does talk about steps to enable/disable "DRM" radio.

While, I have mailed to MSIL customer care to clarify further, any help in this regard will be appreciated.

0622 means June 2022 version. 0820 means August 2020 version. So your car is on a fairly new software.

Having said that, there is a new version available at MSIL workshops, MD-0922, which is a September 2022 release. That's what I got on mine last month. Link: MD0922 (My first car: 2020 Maruti Suzuki XL6 Alpha MT Review)

Don't worry about dealer swapping such minor things, they mostly won't. We picked up an S Presso VXi+ MT last month which was May 23 manufactured, it still had the MD0722 version which means July 22 version. I will get it updated soon when it goes for it's first service.

This also means that smart play infotainment systems do not have the DRM Radio in them, Instead we have AHA internet radio. May be, I got carried away with infotainment manual. Least Maruti should have done is update the firmware to latest before delivery.

Appreciate your help & response.

Hi Sushil,
You are not missing anything significant.

DRM content in India is very limited and very basic.

I have permanently disabled it, as well as the AM radio.

Hi dear Shashi, I got 30k service done just now and I am standing inside the Arena ASC where they have updated my HU firmware from 0820 to 0921 (Sept 2021). The SA told that it is the latest they have received from Maruti recently and they are yet to get 0922. This is surprising.

Is there any way in which I can update to 0922 myself?

Re: My first car: 2020 Maruti Suzuki XL6 Alpha MT Review

Update: XL6 completed 3 years couple of days ago. Since I was travelling, couldn't update the thread at the appropriate time.

Few Facts:

-Odo is a touch above 40k kms and 4th year/40k PMS is pending.

-No outstanding issues pending which needs attention, the car has been as reliable as ever.

-Updated the Insurance for first time(last insurance was 3+3) and switched to Go Digit under Maruti insurance, changed from Universal Sompo earlier.

Warranty claims till now:

-Boot struts, RH and LH, has been replaced twice till now.

-ISG under recall

-Driver side seat for excessive play

-RH chrome bar of grill for peeling chrome finish.

-IRVM for oxidation marks.

Changes done/Features added over the stock XL6(changes done in 3rd year in italics:

1. Complete sound proofing done, Not the regular damping. Unfortunately lost most pics due to a corrupted SD card. Still have recovered some and a detailed post is coming soon. Has made a huge difference to the inside cabin comfort.

2. Upgraded to Michelin XM2 195/65R15 on D-day itself. One of the best things to happen to this car. Hope Michelin sorts out it's supply issues by the time the current set wears out.

3. 5th Wheel is now an alloy

4. Engine isn’t exposed now from underneath, gets a nice flush fitting engine guard.

5. Ceramic Coated, DIY. Durability is good even after a year.

6. Upgraded to MGA PM 2.5 Cabin Filter

7. Installed Solar powered TPMS by Manatec

8. Dead pedal Footrest rubber installed

9. Runs on OEM Iridium Plugs now

10. Installed Foot well lamps

11. Installed Auto-Dimming IRVM

12. Hella Trumpet Horns

13. Comprehensive sound insulation

14. Fog light changed to Valeo+Philips combo

15. Rear reflector LED

16. 16" wheels and suspension of new XL6

17. UV cut side glasses and IR cut front windshield

18. MGA spoiler

19. Variable Speed Intermittent Wiper function

20: Front wheel flaps

21. Smoked Taillights and dicky panel from F/L model

Signing off with some recent clicks:

Should be easily available with the dealer, please push your dealer to contact Harman for the latest version.

Shashi

PS: 0921 was the most unstable version I had ever experienced. Absolute nightmare, even bluetooth connection used to freeze.

Re: My first car: 2020 Maruti Suzuki XL6 Alpha MT Review

Got the PMS40 Done: There were no complains, just regular service.

Jobs done:

-Engine oil and Oil filter change
-Air filter change
-Fuel Filter(since it was changed around 33k, I've kept it with me and will replace around 50k mark
-Spark Plugs(Kept the OE plugs they gave with me since I have iridiums installed)
-Coolant change
-Brake and Clutch oil bleeding
-Brakes cleaning, caliper lubrication wasn't required since the Toyota grease is working flawlessly

The above things were part of PMS, apart from them I requested them to deflate the tyres completely, vacuum them and fill Nitrogen to 40PSI. Secondly, asked them to perform 5 tyre rotation. Both were done FOC. I also opted not to get washing done since I was getting late.

Politely declined their alignment since I wasn't fully satisfied with their work last time. Will get it done later outside.

Total Bill: Rs. 5500

A new Sonax Store by name HiLife Autoworks had come up near my place and I was eager to try their services. Opted for a basic wash and was happy with the stuff they did. It involved:
-Underbody wash with a dedicated underbody lance
-Top foam wash using their dedicated shampoo
-Interior vacuuming and wipe down
-Glass cleaning using dedicated stuff, and must say, one of the very few experiences where no smudge was left behind
-External trims dressing
-Tyre dressing

Paid Rs. 1100 for the same and it took them close to an hour for the cleaning.
