Truck looks absolutely phenomenal. It deserves an overland trip…

Thanks Red Liner. I know the Defender does not get utilised as much as it should be. We have the Land Rover Series 3 for greenlaning/offroading and for overlanding trips the Range Rover Sport gets picked up most of the time. The RRS is faster, more comfortable, safer and more fuel efficient than the Defender.

The RRS almost always gets chosen for long distance trips

However, took the Defender a few months back on a longish trip (1800 Kilometers). A few photos from that trip -

Update:

The Insa Turbo Dakar MT tyres are absolutely horrible on the road, which is expected I believe. I am not sure about other MT tyres as this was my first time, but I am not going to buy them again for a car which does not does not go offroad regularly. I was still fine with them since my usage was quite less, but I was shocked to find one day a huge bulge in one of the tyres.

They had run less than 3000 Kilometres and I had not done any greenlaning or offroading. I contacted 4x4Tyres and they said that they will take back the faulty tyre and send to the manufacturer. But I would have to buy a new one from them to replace it and the manufacturer would refund me the amount for the faulty tyre if they find out that it is due to a manufacturing fault. This might be reasonable, but I was not happy with the response. The confidence on the tyres were also shattered. So I told them to take the faulty tyres and booked 5 new tyres from Blackcircles.com. I had bought the Range Rover Sport tyres from them in 2021 and had a very good experience. This time I said to myself that I will compromise on other things in life but not on tyres anymore, never again am I going to go for cheap tyres! Ordered five BFGoodrich KO2 AT tyres. These are advertised as one of the best tyres in the world and are excruciatingly expensive.

It is too early to give any feedback, but the ride quality and handling has improved a lot. Hopefully they will last a while to justify the price tag.

Edit: The installer had asked if I wanted the white letters to be on the outside or inside and I went for outside, but on hindsight it feels like a bad decision. The car looks better in my opinion without the white lettering.
