Hi, Good info on the Kiger. The last line in screen display intrigues me.
What is 'Distance without consumption'? Shows 107kms.

Does it mean it travelled 107kms without fuel consumption!!

Re: Renault Kiger RXZ 1.0 Turbo CVT | Ownership Review

Im in hunt for replacing my second car, which will be primarily used by my wife for school run and errands.
Since i hear good reviews from journalists, thought of taking a look at used car market and i see plenty of Kiger available in used market. Any reason why?

Any advice for someone looking for Kiger from my fellow bhp-ians here?

I think only Renault has this exciting feature: the Distance Without Fuel Consumption display. This allows you to track the distance you've travelled without consuming any fuel during your journey, viz. coasting or utilising momentum, especially on downhill slopes.

The CVT Turbo version has got some serious mileage issues that might leave a few folks scratching their heads. I mean, how many Indians are really ready to embrace that kind of fuel thirst? If we talk about the non-turbo versions, they might just have you huffing and puffing, especially when you're loaded up or tackling those steep hills. It’s like trying to get an Alto or i10 engine to haul around a much bigger ride—definitely a tall order!

Thankfully, they’ve sorted the earlier batch with mud issues, but here’s the kicker, this car doesn’t take kindly to rough treatment. If you’re the type who likes to push the limits and drive with a bit of flair, be prepared—the car will definitely mirror your driving style in no time.

I have an almost 4 year old Kiger CVT (top variant). I had bought it after test driving Kia Sonet and Tata Nexon at that time, and found it to be the car with the best manners for sedate, in-city driving. The build quality is not great, the engine does not like to be pushed around (especially with AC). But I like the ride quality and the smooth CVT, at a good price point. Not seen any reliability issues till now. Renault service is very good in my area (south Bengaluru).
I think it is a great second/beater car. But may not be satisfying in a single car garage.

Cheers! The key words are sedate & in-city. Ride quality is excellent (isn't that true for most Renaults?). The CVT, like most is sensitive to touch (aren't we too!) and rewards drivers who feather the pedal. The 3 pot turbo is a tad high on harshness though.

Nice Review.
The CVT X-tronic transmission is actually from Nissan. I would presume Magnite & Kiger behaviour would be similar? Amaze is an NA engine so may display higher rubberband effect.

I felt the response time between pressing of pedal and the corresponding vehicle movement was quicker in kiger than Renault. I felt better tuning of engine in kiger compared to Magnite. You could sense the same when you test drive kiger and magnite back to back.

Yes. It does mean 107 km without fuel consumption. There were multiple ghats in the route and while going downhill, you don't need to floor the accelerator pedal. Even on flat roads, this can done by coasting after reaching a decent speed.

Not sure why or how you find it funny.

Kiger Turbo is a decent car. Not the most premium car in its segment, but it is also around 2-3 lakhs cheaper than its rivals.
Service experience is also good, at least in Navi Mumbai. Car has been super reliable as well in my 3 years of experience, no mechanical failures so far.
Turbo has enough power to take you on ghat roads and it can easily cruise at 120kmph all day long.

Thanks. Got to know about this feature when another user explained above.
But the engine will idle (or at least will slowly go back to idle - around 1800rpm) when not pressing accelerator, isn't it? It's not without fuel consumption right?

While coasting downhill if the RPM was say at 2500RPM at the start, it will still stay close to that RPM even when acc pedal was not pushed. Even with less fuel it will burn around 1250 times per minute (4 stroke = 2 revolutions).

The display suggested some thing like 107KMs with zero fuel consumption. Felt like they are stretching things a bit too far.

Re: Renault Kiger RXZ 1.0 Turbo CVT | Ownership Review

I was behind a Kiger today and noticed that whenever it gave a right-turn signal, the left-turn signal flashed first for a millisecond, followed by the right later. Does anyone know the reason for it? Thanks.

Re: Renault Kiger RXZ 1.0 Turbo CVT | Ownership Review

Took a TD of the CVT for my wife as I’m about to buy a car this week.

Felt the suspension is a bit stiff over broken roads not exactly in the league of Duster maybe due to small profile tyres.

C3 is better but front seats are not supportive and feels a segment below at similar price

If the suspension is a bit stiff does it settle down a bit after a few thousand Kms?

Fast responses would be very helpful.

Thanks

I found lowering the air pressure to 32-33 quite helpful than the 36 prescribed. Rumble strips are different game though.
