'99 Zen to '04 Ambassador Avigo 1800 ISZ EDIT: Pics on pg. 2

Hi All,

I bought a Amby (I'm myself surprised), it's a 2004 Oct Avigo, with 1800 Isuzu engine. The car is a lot more powerful and the AC (which was a major problem in the Zen) is a chiller. I don't want to mention the price I paid, as I consider it to be a real steal.

The car had done only 24k on the digital odo, and was stock and beautifully maintained, infact one look at it and I had made up my mind.

This car can really move and feels faster than the carb zen that I had, it's got leather seats all round and the back seat nothing short of a sofa. It's got power steering and Alloy wheels, I guess the Avigo range came with these features.

I'm yet to check the mileage figures, as I have driven only about 70 km so far after I topped up the tank with auto cut off.

Overall, I very happy with the buy as of now, as this beast can move, also looks really cool, and best of all has a very good AC, compared to the Zen I had. I feel at the end of the day that I have a classic with me, but a classic that can take a lot of other cars by surprise. I'm very satisfied by the purchase overall.

I believe you are one of the few owners of an Avigo(may be only one).

We would love to see some pics of the car

Wow. You got an Amby. Thats something you dont see too often these days. Seen very few Avigos around. Dont think sales took off that much. Good to see that you got a low run car. Congratulations. This is a thread I will check regularly for your ownership experience. How about some pictures as well?

From a Zen to an Amby !! Now that is surprising or rather unexpected.

It is the most comfortable of all cars - No doubt about this. I have driven an Amby a few years back and it was a pain. But with PS maybe its easier to drive.

I would love to see some pics of this car. What colour BTW ? ALso you have mentioned Leather all around. Now that must have cost a fortune for the previous owner to get done.

Its got the 84bhp engine right? Many mistake it for a diesel still the driver shows what it can do.

Which color?

Now thats something you don't see everyday. Congratulations nevertheless. Old school cars have a special charm that their modern counterparts can never match. How much of a steal was the steal?

After owning the Zen, you must just love the backseat.

Congrats dude. You have got yourselves the charriot amongs indian cars. Gud to see that there is still a fan follwing for our time tested tank of a car. Looking forward to the snaps of the amby. Doesnt it have the isuzu engine. I remember a lot of the cabbies used to opt to plonk in the isuzu or matador engines on the standard ambies and contessa's a decade back

I think Avigo was a desparate half hearted effort...it could have been a much better car.
