Safari Dicor 2.2 VTT VX : Black !! :-)

Hi BHP'ians !!

I cannot tell you how delighted I am today !! We took the delivery of our first Safari. I am extremely excited about this new machine. The ownership reports on Team BHP helped me tremendously to make a case for Safari in front my family (The initial resistance was extremely high).

We got the delivery today at 6.00 pm so we haven't taken it out for a long drive yet. We just took some snaps at the showroom. Tomorrow being Saturday, we plan to go for some excursion. Nevertheless, I decided to upload those pics.

About the dealer experience : We bought the car from B U Bhandari, Pune. It took 13 days for the car to be delivered from the date of booking (Pretty decent I guess considering it is a VX). They did have a White VX in stock but we were hell bent on getting a black one. The dealer then had to contact the factory and it was told that a Black VX needed to be built from scratch since none were in stock. Fortunately, one family friend of ours is a very senior person in Tata. Thanks to his help, we were able to get regular updates about the status of the car. The sales guy, Mr.Manchak More, was extremely helpful and competent. He helped us get a Rs.25,000 cash discount under the 20-20 scheme which looked highly unlikely when we booked the car. After the delivery, all the relevant details, procedures, driving tips, troubleshooting tips etc were explained in detailed. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the dealership. Now lets see how the after sales service goes.

I hope you like the pics. I am extremely thankful to all the members out there who have whole heartedly supported the Safari on various Team BHP forums. Without those inputs, experiences and comments, I would have never been able to understand and learn so much about this beautiful machine. I have always loved and will continue to love the Safari. It feels good to see that I have lot of support here !!

Needless to say, I will regularly keep on updating you with my experiences of Safari and also maintain and share a detailed log of all the service related issues.

Buckle Up, Drive Safe !!

Amogh

Congrats! The Car looks fabulous. Ten years on, still one of the best looking vehicles around. Enjoy it and keep updating about your ownership experience.

Congrats for your new Safari... Is it is plain VX or 4X4? It looks very masculine in black.

When are you going for your Safari in Tata Safari?

^^ Anuj, I reckon it is a 2WD; notice the lack of 4x4 sticker on the sides.

lovely choice amoghchaphalkar ji
As i said once more earlier, black is THE best color for the safari ( :sigh, my dream vehicle ). And it's high time TATA think of offering special freebies to team-bhpians for safari. C'mon, we buy have of them. (just kidding)

cheers

right it is a 4x2 ... since the car will be driven mostly in the city .. we did not see any point in going in for a 4x4

Just a small update. I forgot to include this in my first post.

As suggested by the dealer ... first thing we did after getting the delivery of the car was to buy two locks.

One for the spare wheel and one for the spare wheel cover

I guess Tata Motors could have provided those as a standard accessory on the car (That would not have added too much to the price of the car).

Yes very true, the wheel cover is the most easily flickable (as I mentioned in Umang's thread also). The spare wheel although requires much more effort as you have the nuts in place and needs time.

It would be a good thought to use your family friend for logging a formal suggestion on this into TATA
