2006 Tata Safari 3.0L : 3rd day of ownership

Finally I return back to India to my Tata safari which was purchased on my behalf by my friend.Though I took a testdrive before making the payment.
Was already prepared for my shares of niggles with the tata safari but one drive and my passion for this legend called the safari was concreted.
The looks:

2006 Tata Safari 3.0L : 3rd day of ownership-dsc00002.jpg

The pros:
Superb driving position.
Whoever said 3.0L was low on power sucks.
Amazing road presence.
Host of features for the price.

Cons:
Just one niggle.Side door does not open from inside.

Congrats! How much has the car done and how much did you pay for it?
Pardon my ignorance, is it the EX trim?
Enjoy the beast.

thanks Live2drive.
Paid a shade less than 5.5Lacs

I have no clue about the trim but the model is LX.

A few questions:
1.Someone please let me know the tire pressure while filling air
2.Best places to get the glasses tinted preferrably near koramanagala.
3.Got a small dent on the front bumper while reversing.A body modification/tuner shop quoted 3K to get it repaired and repainted.
My friend says it can be done inhouse and no need for spending 3K or at least get it done from a local mechanic.
Will post the picture tomorrow of the dent.Let me know whether it can be done DIY kinds.

Thanks buddy.
Yeah the Safari was purchased from one of the dealers named Citizen Cars located at Banaswadi main road.
I have driven almost 150 kilometres since the last four days and found no complains whatsoever with the engine. Its smooth as silk.
The gearbox though slick needs a small effort to engage the first gear.
Interiors are shabby and I plan to get it "leatherized " by next weekend.
Planning to go gsport.A friend of mine knows someone from the gsport factory located at JP nagar and can get me a few couple of thousands in discount.
Also need to get the glasses tinted as I am fed up of ppl peeking inside and not much from the sun.

Don't even mention that dude.I still regret that I trusted the judgement of the watchman that it would go through the narrow gate wall while reversing.Even my friend was saying that it would not and I was not very sure.A small press on the accelerator and thud.

congrats Alter_Ego

thats a wondeful buy, regarding the Tyre Pressure its 30F and 32R with couple of people and if fully loaded then 32F and 35R.

And for the Door not opening from inside, is it the Front door or rear door, get it checked, it shouldnt be much.

also, please post on exact Month/Date of Manufacture.

cheers

Thanks buddy. The mileage was 49K when I purchased.Yesterday it crossed the 50K mark.
It was being used by the some CEO's son.The ride is all pimped up with Pioneer HU and stuff. And I guess he got bored too soon.My luck.

Greenhorn,
Nazar na laga. Now i guess I need to get the "Buri nazar waale tera muh kaala" at the back of my ride .Just kidding bro.
But as of now, I have my fingers crossed. No niggles whatsoever.Or either I am a man with meagre expectations.

Ok almost a month and just one small glitch.
The gearbox oil dried up and I was unable to change gears.
Took it to a local mechanic who took great pains to pump in some oil from under the safari by mounting it on a hoist. But he was able to push in only half a litre or so.

Now I am in a dilema. This weekend my relatives are coming down to bangalore and hence I do not have time to take it to Concorde or any other Tata dealer to get the gearbox oil filled up.
Can anyone let me know of any local workshop near Koramangala,HSR,BTM area where I can get the gearbox oil topped up ?

Why you want to take unneccesary risk ?

Go to any good authorised TASS and get this done well to have total piece of mind.

And dont get a topup, but rather have all new oild filled after emptying the existing stuff.

And still struggling to understand how the gear oil dried up ?

Is there any leak or was it never changed ?
