The A4 comes with a Multitronic, one of the better CVT boxes around. The DSG comes standard on the Quattro Models as the Multitronic supports only front wheel drive.

The 2.0 TSI has a rating of 180 BHP.

Another interesting thing is that the price of the 1.8 and the 2.0 TSI is almost the same, infact the 1.8 is more pricey as it is a CBU in India as compared to the 2.0 Tsi which is a CKD ( Confirmed by Audi Mumbai two weeks back) . The wait is also long. Kind of making the 1.8 option redundant.

However the 2.0 A4 TSi churns out better torque and BHP figures than the four pot C or the 3. Now just if it was not FWD it would be perfect. Well, almost

Are you serious about the price? Why would anyone buy the 1.8 then? Looks like a badly planned product strategy to me. Audi offers way too many engine options in India, and updates them way too often, even dealers end up confused! Why not just zero in on the 2 - 3 that are most relevant to the market (like the C and 3 have done)?

That's the point. No one buys the 1.8. I believe Audi is doing to it just to show a larger lineup as compared to it's rivals.

On the other hand we complain of premium car companies not giving us a slew of offerings, at least Audi is doing that albeit in a slightly pointless manner. The Force driver for the A4 sales was and will remain the 2.0TDI, regardless of the other variants they bring out, unless the get the 2.0 TDI in the 180 BHP state of tune.
