Thanks KN. Will keep this thread updated regards the accessories. And yes, you are right about the leather.

First of all Congratulations,I don't know why there is a huge price difference for accessories between Maharashtra and Delhi

The price difference could be due to Octroi, local tax structures, transpiration cost and VAT. It could be also demand relation for an accessory in a city.

I do agree that the difference is high and advice all future owners to get accessories from a reputed guy will neither cheat nor give will you a wrong fit.

I was already stretching my budget with the Fortuner and am averse to considering anything that is priced higher.

Now I am back to considering MUVs and here am contemplating either the Innova or the to be launched Mobilio.

Have you been able to finalize anything. I have been myself looking around for almost 20 days. I am only looking at AT model and do not want to cross the 24L mark. I can manage the Rexton RX7 in about 22L but then the engine noise in the cabin and the slow pick up is a big deterrent. The vehicle looks really nice to drive and it looks but I think with Korendo launch a lot will change.

Hi Everyone, just a quick note that I took delivery of my FORTUNER on Friday. Only fender mirror has been fixed. Rest of the accessories will be added later after I drive for sometime to get my hand / eye in. As of now , I am revelling in it. Thank you each & everyone & t- Bhp for your help. (Detailed review in the works. )

Floor Mats (Fabric) - 4,990
Fender Mirror - 5,180 - Do sit in Driver seat for adjustment before they mount
Rear bumper guard - 9,900

Can be bought if you are young ..

Lexus style tail lights - 19,500

Optional Depending on place where you live & park ,

Side body cladding (are they necessary?) - 26,000

Why are you recommending fabric floor mats? For anyone who uses the Fortuner the way it is meant to be used, rubber mats are far more practical.

Congrats Nariman. I also took the delivery of my Fortuner today :D

The drive is just amazing.

I got only the Fender mirror and the auto folding side mirror kit. Didn't like the fabric mats being sold by Toyota. Have you decided on any particular kind of mats? I also plan to get the lexus style tail lights. They are just too good.

Many Congratulations- Manuj & Nariman! Welcome to the club!

One quick note on the rear bumper guard- It spoils the car look from the rear, however offers good peace of mind from rear enders! My car has the simple looking one, do not know when I will remove it for the looks!! clap:

If possible, opt for the 3M PPF(Paint Protection Film) which is useful for the daily nicks and cuts on the car.

Took my Toyota fortuner for its 20k service today. ODO- 18,565km. Total bill Rs. 5913. Service done in 90 minutes. Did not get washing done will get it done after leh trip. This also includes a Rs. 1500 air filter which is normally changed at 30k service but bought due to ladakh trip.

Going to leh on Saturday so got oil changed and the usual inspection and tyre rotation.

Discovered a problem with the car. Oil from the rear shockers was leaking albeit slowly but was definitely leaking. The dealership did not have this in stock and said will try to source part within warranty in a week.

During last service the right axle boot was detected with a leak and grease was coming out of it. I was demanding a warranty replacement but the SA said that it's not a manufacturing defect and some sharp object has entered. They did not have the part in stock and said will escalate the matter and let me know. Till today in 6 months they have not done anything about it and they say the boot will be imported from Thailand and will take another 2 weeks to come.

Now I have a leh trip coming up and wanted to ask fellow members would these be a problem when I take the car to ladakh. I plan to cross Wari La and Kakasang La where it would be difficult to get any help.

I am disappointed that mechanical bits of the car are defective considering the car has only only been driven on smooth highways sedately. The part inventory at Grand Toyota Meerut is also a cause of concern. Can anyone tell me how can I escalate the matter to toyota so that my car can be repaired although I don't think anything can be done before the leh trip. Thanks in advance.

Hi

I would suggest you call customer care (Bangalore Number) and ask for immediate response. If required travel to Delhi NCR to get the parts. (Talk to dealer before your visit or ask Toyota to arrange for you at Delhi)

Rear shocker should be in good condition for your Leh trip.

Regarding the right axle boot, can you explain little more. Is it the crank-shaft or the rear wheel axle, you are referring to?

ToyotaFan, sorry to hear about your shock up problem-especially on the eve of going to Leh.
Wanderers is right in saying that the vehicle has to be in top shape up there.
An update from my side- did 1000 kms quick trip- 700kms of it in heavy to very heavy rain- and never for a moment did the Fortuner feel out of its depth(Pun intended!).Followed the running in rules laid down on t-bhp to the maximum.
Took her for the 1k service, all went off nicely- they were swamped ,but a call to the Chaudhary Toyota,Jalgaon COO- Mr. Shanker Banait- smoothed things over & I was accommodated . The car was taken for washing & they have a nifty attachment where they load the shampoo ? in a bottle attached to the water hose & they spray over the whole car in foam & then wash it.
The only annoying thing was the Service Manager objected to me taking snaps of my car being serviced which cheesed me off. One of my friends also mentioned that maybe they are cutting some corners hence they may not wish you take any photos, though I hope thats not the case. The rest of the crew seem pretty professional. Thinking of doing the second service in the Bombay Toyota to see if there is any difference between the service standards. Also, noticed that a slight rattling sound was coming from the dashboard when the rpm increases as when you are about to change gear then it vanishes - the technical leader took a test drive & said that its from one of the plastic clips in the dashboard. I let it be for now & will check it on the 5k service.
On a sidenote, when I went to get my license plate done up, saw a fully equipped off road Jeep there. Went up to the Owner & was pleasantly surprised to meet T-bhpian & Fellow Dentist-Tejas@PerioOral-t-bhp rocks. He was putting up finishing touches before his weekend group meet to Lonavla. Had a chai with him , he praised the fortuner as a very capable vehicle ,but was bummed to hear that Toyota would not be having a Monsoon boot camp this year due to lack of Funds. Come on Toyota,- You should hold atleast one- so we learn the capabilities of the vehicle.(else its like taking a gun to a knife fight!)
So servicing done, scores issued ,took windshield wiper fluid packets at Rs.170/-for 5 packets , Rs.0/- for Service, inquired about the GPS tracker -they said they will inquire & let me know, Bid Goodbye & left. Has anyone placed a GPS tracker would appreciate on which one to get. Thanks .

The leather quality on the Fortuner seems to be quite low grade. The leather on the steering wheel of my car is in a bad shape, its peel off to a large extent. Even the drivers seat sides are looking out of shape and might show signs of tearing soon enough.

Is there a good quality steering wheel leather cover that can be stitched on without making the steering look bulky or shabby?

The Endeavour on the other hand has much better leather quality.

Since when is it happening? Any pictures of the same?

It isn't normal and could be a manufacturing defect. Do visit Toyota ASC and get the replacement if the car is under warranty.

Anurag.

I took test drive of the automatic thrice to convince myself to buy it, but was not possible. Felt at 28l onroad bangalore this was not a vehicle worthy of that price. No disrespect to the other owners on this forum but it is my opinion. Felt the ride was a constant bobbing, engine noise was industrial and absolutely no luxury features what you would expect when paying 28l+,
