What is this corp discount policy? Are non-corp customers not paying? So why this step-motherly treatment towards lesser mortals like us! We are also paying thru our nose.

Nothing against the guys benefitting with corp discount..but we should also get the same, isn't it?
just to add more spice to your wounds, i got a corporate discount of a whopping 80000 when i purchased my fiesta SXI in December 09

Boy! You buy 2 GPS and gift me one!

Ok, let's see and compare, if the corp discount is a myth or non-corp buys get adjusted somewhere else.

My SXI breakup:
Ex-Showroom - 673,000/- (after all discount & dec offers)
Regn+Life Tax+Road Safety Tax - Total 61790/- (RTO Regn charges+number plate - 6450/-+Road Safety Tax - 53840+Life Tax - 1500/-)
3rd Year EW - 5350/- (this was free for me, as loyalty bonus since I sold the Ikon)
Insurance - 20430/-

Over & Above that, got an addl discount of 5000/- on the condition that min. accessories worth 15,000/- will be purchased. Ended up puchasing 20560/- worth accessories (including rear spoiler) and paid only 15000/- total.

Waxoyl Essential pack (Paint Protection/underbody/motorcare+cavity treatment) - 8820/-

Added expenses : Front+side+rear sunfilm :13045/-
4th Yr EW - 5530/-

Total Cost (all that you can do for the car) : 673000+61790+20430+15000+8820+13045+5530=797615/-

Strictly speaking OTR including insurance :673000+61790+20430=7.55L

Corp-discount guys..not let me know

For me (a corporate discount customer ), the OTR for my 1.6 SXI came at Rs. 696160.
Ex-showroom - 639000
Ins - 16660 (not from dealer)
Registration - 40500 ( Dealer has a margin money of 6K in it, which they used to give me freebies - anti-rust, floor & boot mats, pillows, mud flaps, perfume, 5 ltr petrol, key rings, etc, etc, etc).

The truth is that we, customers, always love to get discount & feel special, even when it comes as standard for all.

With the 4 year warranty available now (2 year free and 2 year EW, this will cover the major expenses, if any, for 4 years and you need not to worry about TMP. Infact, when I bought my car, the dealer discussed only about the EW and nothing else.
The first 2 year or 100,000kms warranty starts from the date of delivery
(any defect due to faulty manufacture or material within this warranty period will be replaced or repaired free of charge by any Ford dealer).

EW for another 2 years (3rd and 4th year) or 150,000 kms(whichever comes earlier) comes against a payment of Rs.8300 to 9000 (depends state to state tax structure).

Suggest go for this EW and not worry about other plans?

Thanks Nairrk. I am more or less decided on EW only as TMP does not justify the cost, at least to me.

However, while reading the FORD Figo review (GTO's thread), I came to know that there is an option of SSP from FORD for all their cars (different from EW & TMP). Hence, enquiring about the same.

Very true, Nairji is very advanced when it comes to gadgets. He is even planning to fix a mini-satelite dish on top of his fiesta, so that he can spot the trouble-free, traffic-free routes on his long drives !!

Further, on car speakers, sometimes privacy related issue may occur if family/relatives/friends are co-passengers since the coversation is audible to everyone..
It applies only to people who have more girlfriends or boyfriends than they can manage. So ruchir, if you are a bachelor, go ahead with the plan, if you are married, use a wired handsfree. LOL

Thats why I didnt buy one yet. The tech savvy friends whomever I know, keep upgrading their gadgets every year. So, at any time, you feel you need an upgrade from your existing list of things, please use the PM button here. The less fortunate fiestians will be happy.

Any Chennaites here who purchased in Dec09, can share the prices please? Seems the difference is becos of Ex-Showroom, thus bringing the overall OTR substantially down. Ford being in TN, thought the ex-showroom in Chennai should be the lowest? How come it is not?

Note from MOD - Folks this thread is turning out to be like a chat thread, we are now discussing stuff for which we either have a separate thread or should have a separate thread.

Please restrict discussions to stuff that can not be discussed elsewhere & which would be helpful to a new Fiesta owner.

Guys, I had posted something related to the 50% discount offer coming from the dealers on leather seats. Has anyone opted for that ? Or is it only from bangalore dealer ? What I understand is, its just a slip-on readymade cover. Nairji had bought something similar, was it from your dealer and please mention the cost if you dont mind. I have started my searches and comparisons targetting March.

@Shaju:
Why not get the leather seats from outside?
The quality and design choices will be much better, with similar pricing.
Try Stanley and Orion, and do let us know as well, as I might be interested in leather seating too if things work out.

I wonder why Ford has not given an audible signal for the door open along with the visual signal on the meter console in Fiesta. The other day when I had been to the newly opened Hypercity in Thane, the security guys did not close the boot properly after their customary check. And since it was daylight the visual indication was not clearly visible. When I parked my Fiesta in the parking lot at my building is when I realized the indication.
Does this mean that the autolocking also had not taken place? Expert opinion please.

Noise from Brakes in Fiesta

Gents,

For the past couple of days I have been hearing some screeching noise from brakes in my Fiesta even when applied slowly esp during the stops at signals. I used to experience the same noise in my earlier Santro but only during the monsoon when the brakes would get stuck due to moisture or water ingress (as per the Hyundai tech). But this is happening in Fiesta which is 2 months old and that too during winter/early summer. Has anybody experienced the same. Anyways I will be getting it checked during my first service.

ghodlur, there is no autolocking facility in Fiesta (except if you use the remote to open but then do not physically open the doors/boot for 45 secs)..if you mean to say that the doors will lock automatically once the engine is started/some speed is attained, then, NO, this is not avlbl. However, if you do the central locking (by pushing the door handle inwards), you will come to know that all doors are not locked, as well the door icon will be lit.

Why should you wait for 1st service for having the brake noise checked? You can have it done immediately. Is this noise being felt inside (like the brake pedal rod getting rubbed against something) or you are feeling the noise coming from outside from the tyre area. I am asking this becos similar "rubbing" feeling I was getting from the clutch pedal, but now with 5000+ on ODO this is not coming any more..maybe something to do with so called "run-in" for various parts as well.
