But I dont agree with your shampoo mix water treatment only for the windshield, so you let the body be dirty as it is ??

Another tip to everyone who wants good fragrance in the car. 'My Shaldon' is officially available at Bigbazar from last week. I found it in the Odonil, Ambipur, Napthaline tab corner proudly sitting with all those flavours. Someone opened a lime bottle to smell it, wondering where this public is heading to. will anyone buy that open can ?
right shajufx, it is always good for two fiestians to fight, i do the shampoo water treatment for the windshield and pidilite wax polish for the body, i have left the water treatment to my baby for the service station only,

right, bribe her by taking out for a shopping or a eatery and she would not complain next time even you clean for more than 2 hours.

While we are on this Wifey topic, I have a question regarding muting (the audio system that is)

Other than lowering the vol to 0 or switching off, is there any dedicated mute button (like in other player e.g. pioneer etc).

Currently, if I have to anwser my mobile, I either press the center knob to turn off or reduce to volume substantially? Any other way?

Be careful on how you post, otherwise Fiestians here are lurking around to pounce on you for the minutest of misposts..after all, there is not much issue with the Fiesta per se to crib about, isn't it?

BTW, IIRC, IMO, AFAIK, too much of water will kill the shine quickly and will have other side effects as well. If you have done the paint protection, then a daily routine of dusting off with the Jopasu kind of duster, followed by a mild wipe with a damp microfibre cloth on the roof, front/sides should work wonders. Maybe you can wipe with little more damp cloth on the bottommost sides, if too much of dust/grime is there. Once this process is completed, if you want more shine, wait form 15-20 mins, and just do a buffing with a yellow cloth (avlbl at petrol bunks for 10-15 bucks)..this will ensure that dampness/water marks left by the wet microfibre cloth will be totally removed and you will get a good shine.

Waxing, IMO, once in a month itself is a overkill. The way I test if waxing is required or not, is to follow the principle of water beading. If water stops beading, or during, mild wet wiping, if I notice that water marks are getting harder to remove, then it is time for waxing.

With the Jopasu microfibre cloth (or any other for that matter), I spray some water over the bonnet portion (after dusting/wet wiping)..then, just put the totally unwrapped cloth over the bonnet top and bring it down. If the cloth simply soaks all water without leaving any water drops/streaks behind, it means no waxing is required. Otherwise time for a wax job.

Have not done any self wax job on the Fiesta yet (water wash done only twice at KOL/CHN a.s.s), but that is the procedure I used to follow with my Panther Black Ikon (for the first 4 years).

On top of that, for the 1st 2 services, I am not even bothered about waxing. The waxoyl guys have promised that they will do a touch up whenever I go for the servicing (already done this during the 1st free service).

Bottomline therefore is, drive the car BOSS. Otherwise, people will start commenting "ALL DECKED UP BUT NOWHERE TO GO".

topic related to PND,

frankly speaking i do not need PND as such for naivagation, but looking to buy just for the heck of making my fiesta more tech savvy machine and may be the navigation part be useful in coming times.

the use can be limited to bluetooth handsfree use which is currently taken care by my Nokia BH 102 bluetooth hands free, as such movie watch will also not be practical in use.

I have the Jopasu duster but not yet bought the microfiber cloth. Sounds like it makes the cleaning process a lot more easy. I have the yellow cloth though. Waxing is a tedious job, but the sparkling result will give a satisfaction for the sweat. I havent tried the waxing on my fiesta yet although I have stock of Formula 1 carnauba wax for atleast 1 year (considering a waxing once in 2 months).

Whatever said and done, the satisfaction one gets moving around in a clean and shining car is uncomparable.

In that case, why don't you opt for the 2-DIN 6-7" touchscreen system? This will come with bluetooth/gps/dvd/mp3/ipod etc under a budget of 20-25K? Nothing can be more hi-tec than that!

Couple of days back, ordered the below from dealextreme:
- HOLUX M-1000C Rechargeable Bluetooth Car GPS Receiver with Data Logger Travel Recorder

- 7.0" Touchscreen 400MHz CPU Windows CE 5.0 GPS Navigator w/ Bluetooth Handsfree + 2GB Maps SD

- SmartQ V7 7.0" Touchscreen Windows CE 6.0/Linux/Android MID Internet Tablet (600MHz CPU/WiFi/2GB)

Totalling to appx 520 USD.

Hoping to receive it within 2 weeks time since paid 13$ extra for expedited air shipping..but Feb 2nd week onwards seems like some Chinese holiday season starts..so keeping my fingers crossed.

Read the dedicated Jopasu thread and follow Nairji's advise on this! He is having a tough time with the supplier!

Sanjay, dont you have to pay custom when it comes here ? I have had bad experience in importing some supplement powders last year. Never ever tried any international shipping after that. I had liked the original california duster which is sold through some international sites, but opted for Jopasu due to shipping and custom charges. This time I have few things related to camera etc in my wish list, but the thought of customs is holding me back.

right sanjay, but it will cost me 32000 as the model i have selected belongs to kenwood DX 5032, it has all the features (more inclined to buy the device in blood and flesh, personal inhibitions)
so there is still a difference of 17k and replacing the stock HU is not in my mind

As per custom rules, any gift <10K can be sent from abroad - custom free.

Dealextreme.com ships all items marked as gift. I first tested the waters by ordering for a G Mouse Mini USB gps receiver costing some 38$ in Dec09. Got the delivery within a month directly at home address, delivered via Hongkong post > Chennai Post > My Home. No addl charges.

Another item (the holux bluetooth gps one) was also ordered the same time but was out of stock, and after I cancelled the previous order, promptly got the amount credited to my credit card.

I am carefully selecting the items. Holux is a leader in gps tracking devices and smartq produces good pnd/windows ce devices. Shipping takes 4-6 weeks. Payment is thru paypal, hence totally secure, since it is a ebay company.

The only issue that I foresee is warranty related/dead on arrival products. However, going by dealextreme.com (operating via Hongkong) forums, products are replaced/exchanged, but it takes weeks.

You can try placing a low order value (>15 USD will give you a shipment tracking number, <15 will not) and try out. There are host of tid-bit items to choose from.

BTW, from the international ford website (fordcollection.com) I ordered quite a few items like keychains etc..but the shipping rate was given as 350 USD for total 11 items worth 110 USD..canceled the order subsequently.

Yes, there is another thread on jopasu under 'Accessory/part reviews'
(sub heading '' jopasu car duster - a mini review) which please go through.

Yes, I am not lucky with this jopasu so far.
Earlier, when I wanted to order the duster, he was blacklisted by ebay.
He came back with re-listing in early december and I ordered immediately and also informed all members about his re-listing via above thread and
many members ordered and almost all of them got the pack except me.
Since the parcel was not recieved on time, I have asked for the refund which was approved by ebay. Now I am planning to order the product again (subject to the listing will be still there).

Hope this time I succeed?

Some short-cut
press the AUX button-the music will be stopped and you can enjoy talking on mobile. - again press the FM button the audio will be back !? (this will work, provided you are not using the Aux port for listening other music)

(no need for reducing the volume of switch off/on everytime -but do not talk on mobile when you are driving -please)

That is the problem..Almost always the AUX is connected to my iPod..I hate carrying CDs.

I agree about the mobile bit. I always use bluetooth/wired handsfree for mobile, and converstation kept to absolute bare minimum and that too only for unavoidable incoming calls. However, handsfree or not, it indeed is a distraction which should be avoided.
