Conclusion - Min. 75% to be engaged, in case you are inside the car. In all other situation, pull it up as far as your biceps allow.

I did a similar test on an ~ 45 degree slope and the results were near identical. I usually press the button and raise the hand brake to avoid the kadak sounds but I agree that 75% is very effective.

On most cars (not absolutely sure if the Fiesta is one of them), parking brake actuation is essential for the self-adjusting mechanism in the braking system to adjust the resting position of the brake-shoes (by bringing the shoes closer to the drum as they wear out).
If the parking brake has not been used for some time, I guess, one might need to pull up the lever a little bit higher for the brakes to catch properly.

I am told by a friend who uses an Ikon, that while raising the handbrake, the button should not be pressed, thus resulting in the "kadak" sound coming which confirms that brake has latched into position (like moving the seat forward/backward). With the button pressed, the sound does not come, and hence one does'nt know if the brake is fixed into the latch. Your experience of the brake coming down suddenly may have got something to do with this.

Some Auto Accessories Expo is there today/tomm at YMCA grounds, Royapettah..is it worth visiting?

I think this particular variant is the best in the market under 10 lakhs. This is my favorite car and the best thing you did was that you bought the Aquarius color. This makes it stand out in the crowd and tells the public, "Yea baby, I got the S variant".

Even if someone gives me 15 lakh rupees to buy a car, i would buy a aquarius 1.6 S and save the rest. :)

Awesome Choice!

Handbrake lever button is required to push only for releasing the handbrake.
No need to push the button to engage (raise) the handbrake!

Also FORD recommends 'to lift hand brake lever to maximum for effective function''.?

Mustang, unfortunately, you cannot do that! Someone at Ford decided to pull the plug on the Aquarius color. I tried contacting Ford India, seeking the reason, but no answer from them.

I have been pressing the button and rasing the handbrake for several years now. I don't like hearing that 'kadak' noise. Maybe I ought to change the technique.

I went to the so called Expo. It was pathetic. There were a couple of cars each by Mitsubishi, Ford, Mercedes, Maruti etc. Very few accessories stalls. Only Haute Car Zone seemed interesting. I ran into my MPL Ford salesman there. He said MPL alone has taken over 300 bookings for the Figo!

The Aquarius color is fantastic. It changes color throughout the day depending on the light and stands out a mile in parking lots. The color has been discontinued unfortunately. I am thanking my lucky stars I bought the car in Nov. If I had waited for the Dec offer, I would not have gotten this color.

I mailed them as well. No reply.

Gilead, whatever happened to the scratch?

It's still there. It's too small to be bothered with and I'll get it fixed during the next service. Besides, the scratch may also help in warding off the 'evil eye'. lol My car is a little too flashy as it is. :D Do you plan on fixing those pillar scratches in your car?

I noticed that they have removed the blue color options for all models. Blue was a superb color. I cancel my booking for grey Endeavour and then got the blue one. Sad that they removed it.

Mustang: You are the ford insider. Any reasons they removed it?

joshdrive, you must have a dark blue Endy if I am not mistaken? Maybe Ford does not like Blue. But their logo is still blue. :)

Mine is named "Jeans Blue". How different it is from aquaris blue? I see Fiestas and Ikons with almost same colors as my Endy. They look slightly darker than the Endy. I thought its the same color and they look bit darker because of their size.

And the Jeans blue option is not available for Endy at ford website now.

This is my car. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/attach...cn2195-50-.jpg

I did not know the Endy blue was called Jeans Blue. I think I have seen it and it is much darker than Aquarius. Does it have a color changing effect?

No color changing effect. From the picture above, yes it does look lighter than Endeavour blue. But I am unable to say weather it is the blue fiestas I see on road. Did Ford offer some other blue for fiestas?

BTW your car looks delicious :) You have maintained it very well.

Yes, Fiesta did come with a regular blue as well which was darker and not as flashy as Aquarius. Not sure of the color name. Mustang can probably help. Even that blue has been discontinued.

That pic was taken on the day of delivery. :D But it still looks just as good. The free paint protection they gave helps.
