Congrats on getting one of India's best handling hatches ;). I love the way she grips through corners like a scared kitten on jeans. The acceleration could have been better but she has only 68 horses so all is not lost :D. |
Thanks man, tell me about it, This car doesn't seems to loose confidence at all. I have tried it all, In one turn i lost the confidence but damn this thing still stayed in its line.
Due to run in, Quite a few people overtake me once the light goes green, But when a curve comes, I just accelerate more whereas others start braking, This is when i go ahead lol:

Ownership thread will be up by sunday probably. Guess what, my relatives still think, I commited a crime by getting a figo, against a swift.

My Ford Figo continues to haunt.
In last 3 weeks I have changed the following things in the car. Though the car is under warranty, there is no respite from issues cropping up every other day.
1 Rear Shock Absorbers Changed
2 3 nos of Wheel Bearings changed
3 1 nos of axle bearing changed
4 Music System replaced for Recurring issues
5 Left power window greased to see if it can improve from existing issue
6 Brake Pads Changed
7 Front Discs changed
8 Broken exhaust pipe (part A) changed
Submitted yesterday for changing:
1 2 nos of Fuel Injectors
2 1 nos of transreciever
3 PCM upgrade
4 Rust formation at the same place as earlier. On the right door step and dicky area.
Yes continuous effort with this defective LEMON continues..
Ford has sold me, a lemon.
The car has ran 60k kms and is now in 4th year warranty.
Its Ford Figo Diesel Titanium
Search for : Ford figo, story of a defective lemon to know more...

Hi Dinesh,
Things should be taken care from Ford if these things are happening but at the same time I would like to add
with 4 yrs & 60k kms of running some maintanance is bound to happen like brake disks, pads, shock absorbers (depend upon daily wear & tear, usage) Also, the rust with time might be happening due to Mumbai weather.
This is based on my perception. you can add details incase you want.
note: I am using Figo from last 3 yrs & it has been absoutely trouble free.

Dinesh, your repair list does seem a little high but it also depends on how you are maintaining your car and under what conditions its driven. 60K km is reasonable for wheel bearing failure, brake pads change and suspension overhaul. Mumbai with humid conditions and possible water logged roads will only make things worse for these items.
Fuel injectors failure do seem abnormal but it could depend on the quality of fuel that you put in.
Did the 70,000 Km servicing last week from Malayalam Ford, Kochi.
TDCi Titanium.
Break up of the bill is as given below.
a) Gasket & wash fluid- Rs 110
b) Bearing Wheel Assy- Rs 1785
c) Oil Filter - Rs 333
d) Lock Washer - Rs 551
e) Filter A/C - Rs 421
f) Engile Oil - Rs 1057
g) Labour - Rs 1749
h) Service Tax - Rs 216
i) VAT - Rs 625
Total was around Rs 6850/-
The replacement of Wheel bearing assembly, Lock washer, Gasket and A/C filter is not part of the job card for 70,000 Km servicing. The cost of those items, respective Labour charges and Taxes would be extra from a normal servicing
I did not feel that the A/C filter had to be replaced. By the looks of it, I felt that a cleaning and re fitting would have done the job. However, they had already undertaken the replacement before I could voice my opinion.

Lock washer costs Five Hundred and Fifty One Rupees? :Shockked: What, according to Ford, is a "lock washer"?
On a separate note - the Figo is a superbly fine handling car. Went on a drive recently to Ooty and back with the express intention of maximizing distance driven on the twisties. The car is simply brilliant! You can, just past the apex of a curve, hit the gas and the car will stay true to its line and not wash wide.

Yes I saw the thread by RSUDARSANAN about the Bangalore drive meet.
Intend doing the same route next weekend.
Shall post my experiences in a separate thread as a travelogue

- totally agree , i do the same every time I take the figo to curvy roads
You know whats even more fun ?
- next time try taking the twisties @40-50 kph WITH continuos A-pedal input through the apex (before, during & after), in 4th gear (3rd gear if it is a climbing curve)
you will feel WRC-ish g forces on your body clap: but the car stays radar-locked to the racing line
So, my Figo TDCi Titanium [March 2011] just got back from the 30K service and I thank my stars for taking the extended warranty. During the first year of ownership, the thermostat assembly and the return hose broke and was replaced under warranty. Today, I went to the service station and I had an issue with the AC. I told the SA that I have a strange problem with the AC and he asked me, if the issue is as follows - the AC cuts off on it's own randomly and starts working again after an hour or so. I then asked him whether it's a known issue and he agreed that indeed the issue was reported in some Figo's. To make the long story short, by the time the work on my Figo was finished, the alternator, the power steering pump and AC filter were also replaced, under extended warranty. Moral of the story, for anybody buying the Figo, I would highly recommend the extended warranty.

+1.
For me, the water pump bearing was giving weird noises. It was replaced under warranty when i reported it to ford. If not in warranty, it would have cost about 7k.
Unlike Maruti/Tata, genuine Ford spares are not available outside, so that would mean expensive repair bills.

My thread is up and running. Do check it out..

Of late, the horn used to fail on me on dense traffic situation & the last straw broke when one (from the pair) gave up at Bhagalpur (known for traffic jams & unruly traffic). Though it always gains its sound as soon as you exit traffic, but thought to change anyways.
Have gone for Hella twin tone horns. I just have to press it for a second or two compared to earlier. Though pedestrians & cyclists are becoming intolerable every passing day.
Today i got my Figo's front bumper lower lip wrapped with 3M Matt wrap.

I got this done at 3M, they charged ~400 for Matt black. You also have other option, Carbon fibre textured. Take your call.
