^^ Sorry SriShiva. I did not understand your question.

This car is a BSII and cannot be sold in Tier-1, including Bangalore. I got this from Salem (T.N), its a Tier2 city.

Hi Santosh,

Shifted part of your post on my thread here as it could benefit other nano owners.

(PS - what color is your friends nano?)

It is Gold, and his cousin brother has taken a Red, both CX.

In one of your posts, you have mentioned that you filled to the brim. Do you stop at the auto stop or do you continue until you see the fuel at the brim?

He tries the latter and it is painfully slow, but the last time he managed to fill in almost 5 litres, totalling 17+ litres with the reserve just flashing!

I do that rarely, but in that way - after the auto cutoff, nearly 4 more liters can be filled but very very slowly. It is due to the fact that the air pipe is way too long and takes a long time for the air to come out. I can safely say safely that the nano will take in at least 20 liters from a dry position.

Guys this is Only a REFERENCE Pic. Saw this @ above mentioned thread...

Notice how susceptible the rear of a nano is. God forbid even a slight rear end-up by a bike!! Would lead to a BIG loss!!

Tata Nano CX - 20000 Kms-nano-rear.jpg

Got the worst FE on plains till date. 17.6 KMPL, 100% AC in city conditions, with numerous 8-15KM runs in heavy traffic.

@ svsantosh and all other nano users.
Sorry for posting my query in your thread but i would like to ask a few questions to you regarding nano purchase.

-I had booked a nano lx, lunar silver and mostly will be getting my car by may 3rd or 4th week. But i am really worried whether to take it or not. After all the nano fires and adverse comments from many people about its pickup, safety etc( all these got cleared once i went through your thread). For me, i am considering nano only as a second car, i.e, meant only for city drives and not much of highway runs. So would you advise me to take my nano?

- How is the car in ladies view perspective? handy and easy to drive?

thanks a lot

Even after 1st service done getting 15 kmpl on high way with 100% AC, then I am sure in city I will get only 13 kmpl

After all these fires, I cannot promise on this front - I myself tell my passengers to keep their noses' open while inside the car. Just cant promise enough!!

yes, I can vouch for this. Did you check out my Ooty trip travelouge. Car exceeded Expectations.

Blindfolded, thumbs down - this is The car to drive around in today's mayhem roads.

Cant vouch from a lady's perspective :) - but it is again ONE of the easiest car to drive by ANyBody.

1) Power steering is not missed that much (next best thing today is a Alto Lxi PwrStr)
2) Visibility and front overhang (length beyond the windscreen) is too short to be true - meaning, ease to drive by any lady/newbie/short person.

Hmm... not a good sign. Do you check Air in tyres regularly? All other paramenters OK??

My car had developed some major clutch play and needs adjustment ASAP. Feels like driving a tractor!!

Santhosh,
How is the clutch in your nano, is it very hard ? I would like to know if it is same in all the Nano or I am only having the problem ?

HI Gopinathann,

I do have a nano and its done around 3900kms and as of now the clutch seems to be working fine i.e. its quite soft and car- like ( not exactly soft as my other car Spark. )

May be you feel it hard after driving you Sx4 which i think is bound to happen.

Pretty smooth. Off late its jerking around :D, i think i need to get the play adjusted.

Thanks, I know the clutch would be a little hard compared to SX4, but it is so hard and if you are in a traffic, surely will have pain in the left leg. Will take to the tata motors to rectify it.

9-apr-10, Sunday evening, I was lazing around bangy traffic. At a junction, without noticing the engine in Idle - I re-cranked the engine with a big 'KrrrrKrrrrrKrrr' from the starter motor.

Then the ENGINE CHECK light came on - naturally I was worried. Didnt want to cause a Jam - So slowly moved with the traffic and pulled over into a lane. Switched off and switched on again - light was still On.

I continued to drive on at snails pace. Approx 2 mins later I hit another Signal and switched off for good. At green, I re-started the car and the ENGINE light was gone!!!

I did give me a few tense minutes - wonder why the ECU programming is done in this way!!

agree: It appears NANO has slight problems in its electronic display. Mine was showing breaks ON even after I had released both the brakes. Then about the clutch. There appears to be an idling problem and the engine stops quite often. I hope to get these solved during my first servicing. But, all said and done, I felt great driving it down from Mysore to Bangalore and in Bangalore. I hit 90 kmph, and Nano was quite smooth. And it gave 21 kms (without AC) in the Highway.

Could the brake fluid level be low? That light monitors that too!
