Hi,

One of my first posts here and its good to see so many Sierra enthusiasts.

I recently got myself a 1995 Sierra NA from a fellow Teambhpian. It will be work in progress for the next 3 months and I can do with your advice. More pictures will soon follow. Engine and the a/c is in a good state.

- What tyre size can I safely upgrade to without affecting the pick up or hitting the inside of the vehicle while turning

- Will the Superking blower help ? How much does it cost ?

- Will changing the motor for the power windows help or is it a Sierra issue ? The power window does work when you give the motor from the inside of the door a good whack.

- Any suggestions for a good paint job in Bombay ? Is 20 k a reasonable budget ?

- Will the standard bullbars (in front) fit ?

- Any place in Bombay for getting cheap spares for the 207 DI (headlight and mudguard)

Thanks

A superking blower will greatly improve matters. The stock Sierra blower sucks! Please search for more info on cost.

Congrats on the Sierra Turbo, Advyth . This has marvellous street presence. If only Tata were to re-launch the Sierra with the 2.2 VTT (and a 4X4 variant as well ) .

The Tata Sumo Victa continues to be available with the TCIC engine : I guess this is the one that is selling more, I have not seen many DI Turbo Victas around.

Currently on 215/75 R15 and not facing any issues

The short term plans include

- Paint job from the current Ferrari red to a more sober (and realistic) color. Advyth I might copy your color scheme.
- Alloys and tyres (Any suggestions on the wheels ?)
- Superking blower for the ac (Thanks GTO !)
- Safari wheel cover for the 5th Wheel. Costs a cool 4.5k at TASS. Painting it is a further cost !!
- Weel arch mudgaurds from the Sierra Turbo. Not sure if the 207's can be fitted on the NA Sierra. Any idea ?
- Headlights from the 207 and I am good to go.

Am getting a decent FE of 12.5 btw. Was expecting sub 10 on the NA

Hi,

My new thread on Sierra tryes has been deleted. I searched for Sierra modifications / Tyres but did not find details on what do Sierra owners recommend as a 'comfortable' tyre, so asking this here

Stock size: 215/75 R15
Offroading (!): 0%
City driving: 50%
Highway driving: 50%

- Any suggestions on the tyres (Brand/product) for the Sierra ? The idea is to have a comfortable ride and minimal punctures.

- Also should I upgrade to 225/70 R15 ? Will it improve ride or handling ? Barely a 1% decrease in the diameter with this upgrade.

- Michelin Latitude Cross was suggested and it comes in both these sizes (with a free mobile phone for 4 tyres too !) Any suggestions on this ?

Thanks

225/70 R15 is the best upsize for a Sierra Turbo. LTX (first-hand experience) and Latitude are excellent tyres. You are only going wider by 10mm, thus there will not be a huge difference in handling. But with the kind of oversteer that the Sierra is "blessed" with, I'd go the 225 way. This size will make her look more planted too.

And I thought the oversteer was just my rookie driving !

Then the 225/70 Latitude it is.

Yes, it is a turbo powered engine. Simply love the whistle at around 2-2.5 mark. And moreover, when i am on the road, it feels like . The pic of the engine bay is attached for your reference.

Re: My new (pre-worshipped) Tata Sierra turbo

Hello! I hope to bring some life to the topic which seems to have been hibernating since last two years. This is my beast. '95 born. Joined our family back in 2006. Completed one engine overhaul, power steering overhaul thrice, three A/C overhauls with condenser replacement twice, painting once, upholstery work once.

My new (pre-worshipped) Tata Sierra turbo-20150916_181716.jpg

We are did hard adherents of maintaining the original appearance. (at least externally) So we try to make sure that it remains unmolested in every way. (though we lost quite a lot of plastic parts including mudguards etc.)

Now hunting for the original Pricol meter console and the original seats. (with that crazy folding mechanism in the front.) The rear seat was welded in the joints by the previous owner for some reason and so they cannot be fully folded. Also exploring means to remedy insulation issues to make AC more effective and noise lesser.

He keeps giving us troubles occasionally and enough ego boost/riding feel to be not affected by those troubles.

And yes. He is the only car in the family. (I know how crazy that sounds) I found that if there is another car around everyone has a tendency to ignore him. Disuse will ruin Sierra to an incredible extent. (we learnt our lesson when I left it in the garage for one year when me and my brother left home for a while. Cost us a fortune to get him back on the road)

God knows how long we would be able to hold on against coups targeting Sierra.
