@trrk

I have not set the trip meter for the Calicut trip and hence I don't have any data. When I was back after the trip the Avg was 14.5kmpl, which had dropped to the current levels in about 150 kms drive in Cochin City. Shall maintain logs next time.

Regarding the check glow plugs, I too got the same message on my Linea (MJD) around 5K mark. Initially it was random but later it would appear everytime I started the car. Went to my TASS, they checked the glow plugs and found nothing wrong with it,they removed the error message with the help of a computer. You need not worry about it. You can get it rectified during 1st service.
@Autocop

How did they rectify your glow plug issue? Was it rectified completely for you?

No sweat. On 03/06/2010 244 kms from my house in Alleppey to the bunk in Ramanattukara, Calicut Byepass was covered using 11.09L giving a 22kpl figure. AC on, 2 of us.

Symptoms of faulty glow plug:
 • Misfiring when starting and during warmup
 • Hard starting
 • Glow Plug light on dash blinking after startup, or not lighting at all
I didn't experience any of these symptoms but wanted to get the same confirmed and get the error message removed since I was planning for a long trip about 1000kms Mid-may. I went to my TASS (Balaji Cars Thane). I was asked to wait in customer lounge. After completing the job I asked how they fixed it. This is what they seem to have done,

1. Start the engine and notice symptoms of faulty glow plugs. No symptoms. Physically Check/Inspect glow plugs. No issues found.
2. Connect the computer provided by Fiat to the Car (below your steering there is a port) using the cable.
3. Turn on the diagnostic software. Select the Car Make/Model/Engine.
4. Run the software diagnostic check.
5. Erase the error message that has got into the car's CPU (since there is no issue with the glow plugs) using the software interface provided on the compuer.

Technician advised me to follow the heating/cranking procedure described earlier. And since then the issue hasn't surfaced. Issue was corrected Mid-May.

@trrk

You got pretty decent figure there. I hope to get somewhere near it soon.

@Autocop,

When I crank the engine it starts in the first attempt. Then you see the coil flashing for a few times and a message " Check glow plugs" will be displayed for sometime.

MilesAndSmiles,

So you are experiencing third symptom. In previous post I said I didn't experience any of the 3 symtoms but your post/picture reminds me something and let me correct myself here, even in my case I got the exact same symptom as yours. But the other 2 symtoms were not there. I believe for you also the first 2 symtoms aren't there. Right? If it is so, then the problem you are experiencing and the one I did are identical.

Nothing to worry. You can get it fixed during 1st service. If you are losing your sleep or peace of mind you can get it straight asap. It's a 30min to Max 1 hour job.

Congratulations MilesAndSmiles! Have a nice time!

Just wanted to know:
 • Do you find any Turbolag? - VGT must be great to drive.
 • On cold start, do you feel any jerk when Turbo comes on for the first time?
 • What is the engine speed (RPM) at 100 kmph in 5th gear?
 • OTR price?
Can you post some more pics of the interiors?

@Chethan

Some quick answers for you.
* There is a bit if sluggishness in 3rd gear below 2000rpm. You just down shift and then the car moves without fuss.
* I did not find any jerk so far when the turbo kicks in.
* 100kmph in 5th gear is at 2400 rpm.
* Current price is 9.2L on road.

I'll post more photos for sure, but I request you to be patient for a couple more days.

And the photo of the first scratch on the car :-( . This happened on a narrow lane when I had to give way to another car coming in the opposite direction. The left wing mirror ever after folding, scratched on a concrete electric post.

By the way, what is that wire which is running along the AC vents under the front seat?

Re: My Fiat Linea MJD Emotion Pack Medium Grey

Today is the 4th Anniversary, me and the Linea Residency

It was 4 years of admiration and joy. We had done some long distance roads trips with family and friends in the car. It had covered over 60K kms without any breakdowns, thru all sorts of roads and terrains. The Car had seen the states of KL, TN, KA, GA, MH, GJ, RJ, PB, JK, HP, HR, DL and it carried us in great style. The car went thru scorching heat of above 40Deg C and thru chilling -2 deg C, the ACC of the car kept us in comfort. It is a nice touring car, We had done a Kochi to Ladakh trip of 18days, during this journey, many nights were spend on the moving car, and now we passionately call it Linea Residency. Except outright power, Linea ticks all boxes for me. I am saying this after 4 years and 60K on all kinds or roads and terrains. I was lucky with the service so far, I did not had any major issues. The car still has 2 more months of extended warranty.

Here are some of the stats.
---------------------------
Highest altitude covered - 18379 feet Khardung La, the highest motor able road.
Longest trip - 18days 9650kms,
Best FE - 30kmpl for a distance of 50kms
Quickest Highway Drive - Pune-Kochi/22.5hrs
Top speed attained - 168kmph with 4 pax and full luggage
Longest drive - Keylong to Thane in 50hours/ 2050kms
Farthest point traveled - Turtok 4150kms from home
Distance traveled away from a FASS - 918Kms
Breakdowns - NIL.
