I never felt lack of power both in my Tdi and also Petrol Polo (during several test drives). May-be, people expected more from VW to begin with.

Definitely Polo is a superb car to own!

Yes you are correct, I also noticed that RPM at around 1700-2000 is the best bet in city driving, especially when one would be using 2nd gear mostly, the car at these RPMs pulls smoothly w/o clutch and without any vibrations whatsoever.

Some pictures from the trip. Wish I had such a fully covered car parking in Bangalore. Even though it is supposed to be covered, the car gets fully dirty when it rains in my apartment parking.

Had a strange experience near Salem. Polo was chased down by TN highway patrol. On inquiry they told a red car had been involved in an accident and as per information from toll booth they were chasing my car for over 50Km.
Their Quails was not able to catch up on the tollway and finally caught Polo at a traffic signal in Salem. They did a thorough inspection of the car and could not spot any accident signs. At the same time a KL red swift pulled in and they flagged it down and that car had the signs of accident. They showed graciousness to let me go with out further harassment.
So beware..If you do hit and run on tollways high chances you will be caught by law.

His polo has done about 3000KM and there wasn't a single squeak or anything. It still looks and sounds brand new.
The polo is miles a ahead compared to the figo.

You get what you paid for Wish I had waited and got the polo.
Absolutely. I was writing about the quality of VW in many posts and there is no doubt about its supreme quality. How can you compare Figo and Polo. Figo can be compared with Vista.
I feel VW's rival in India is Toyota.

Learnt from the August sales thread that Polo sales have crossed 3200 in Aug. This is a commendable achievement for VW. But now starts the real challenge of servicing such huge number of cars with such less number of dealerships. Though the one year/15K service interval of Polo is going to help, this can also result in large number of cars turning up simultaneously for service. Also the Vento is also going to bring in volumes if one goes by the initial response. So highest priority of VW should be to shift focus from sales to service and increase the dealerships atleast to 100.

The number looks small - poloman. My Polo is number 2960 on the production line, which was delivered on 04/06/2010. By august, it could have doubled atleast?

I agree that the network needs to be strengthened ASAP.

Wow!!

That is more than I had expected!! In that case, number of Polos on Indian road must have crossed 10,000 mark?

Great going VW!!

I better get my car serviced before the rush!!

Last 6 digits of the VIN number. What is your's?

I had a look at Vento today. Somehow felt that the Polo interiors (color combo) was better!

I second that! The Vento's dashboard has a brownish color that doesn't look very good. The Polo's beige-black combo is best

I don't think the VIN tells anything about the production number. The last six digits on my VIN are 004660 (Date of production- 20.08.10). But there are already over 10,000 Polos on road!

Maybe the number (4460) is of a particular variant!

I remember Gaurav discussing this in one of his posts. He also mentioned that his Polo was number 1000. May be, each variant will have a different sequence? Do not know for sure.

Back after a long gap. The car continues to exceed my expectations in all the apsects.
After 4 months and nearly 4K kms got the first real scratch while reversing. Though this is a clearcoat level scractch, it feels bad.Planning to visit dealership tomorrow for a general check up. So will try out to fix the scratch. Some long drives like BLR-Pune-BLR, BLR-TVM-BLR coming up very soon.
Chethan, Saw your car gleaming on your thread, did you do 3M protection? If yes, do you recommend this? Saw lot of contradicting inputs on paint protection thread.
