Re: My very own Jet has landed : TATA SAFARI GX BS IV

HI Guys

Firstly, sorry for posting late. I've been these days due professional commitments.
The beast was performing extremely well till today when it gave me the first shock. I was coming home from town. Today I took it all way to 120 kmph with max rpm of 2400. This was first time after running-in that it reached this speed. After coming home I switched it off. I turned it on again to take it into the garage, Suddenly I felt that engine noise has increased ans at the same time saw MIL on. I switched it off and started again after 39 seconds. Still the light was on. Immediately I swiched off the vehicle and called TATA Helpline. They told that mechanic will be on the way. Still waiting for him anxiously.
I will keep you guys posted for further story.

Cheers

My very own Jet has landed : TATA SAFARI GX BS IV

It is yellow colored light.

Ok the breakdown assistance guys just arrived and checked the vehicle. He tightened the big wire connector of ECU assembly ahead of battery and told me to start the vehicle again. Voila, the light has gone. Tried it no of times but it never came on.
He said that sometime the connection to the ECU become loose and hence the light.
I am relieved!!!!

One more small thing, after refuelling the vehicle it takea about 15 min for the guage to come to correct reading. The movement id very slow. Is that so or mine is faulty?

Mine goes to full position quickly after refueling. You may have to report this problem to TASC and get the fuel meter replaced.

What you should do is to turn the car off completely and take the key out. And then put it in after refueling, the needle will move up immediately.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will try it next time. If still no joy, I will go with anuj's advice of reporting the matter to TASS.

Do try it. But a mistake on my side. For some reason I thought you were talking about a Fiat where this is a common problem, guess the Jet from the title stayed in my head. Still my solution might work.

I always pull out the key while Diesel is getting filled in for various reasons. But, the moment I put the key in and turn it "ON", I see that the fuel indicator moves to FULL immediately. No delay.

I always do "Auto cut off" Tank full.

Prem.

I too agree with this approach. Only once I think I left the key in its place (though engine was switched off) when refueling, and that time it took really long for the needle to move to its right place after refueling.
Almost all other times, I take the key out, and after refueling and when cranking the engine, the needle quickly moves to show new fuel level.

I think this is by design and may not be really a fault that TASS will fix.

Sheelz - do report next time after refueling with key drawn out.

Ok Guys..

Today tried filling up with key removed. As I inserted the key, voila, the fuel gauge was showing correct reading.

Thanks guys for the tip.
Cheers!!
