Re: 'The Search' ends here - ZEN it is !!!

LXI came with PS and front PW only. (Correct me if I am wrong).
Rear wipers, Body coloured bumpers must have been added later by the previous owner, I think.

Re: 'The Search' ends here - ZEN it is !!!

The grill isnt the original one on this zen - if it is a 2003 zen, then it should have a different grill, the black grill is the one from the carb'd zens. Yes the LXi did come with the rear wiper and power windows and powersteering, the body colored bumpers are aftermarket.

Re: 'The Search' ends here - ZEN it is !!!

One more query:
The RC book says it's 10hp engine. AFAIK, MPFI Zen has 60hp engine.
Infact, even some other Zens I checked recently had their RC books mentioned as 10hp. Why is that?

I thought so. This one also has the front bumper mis-aligned.

This is a funny system. In olden days the HP mentioned in RC books were Taxable Horse Power. Look at the old Amby RC Books, the HP mentioned were either 13.28 or 14 (rounded off). This is derived from the formula D2 x N, where D is the diameter of the Bore and N is the number of cylinders.

Re: 'The Search' ends here - ZEN it is !!!

Congrats Chetan. So you finally found a Zen. I can totally relate to all that you have mentioned in the looking for the Zen part. The high demand is not only in Bangalore, its the same in Pune... and everywhere else as well i'm guessing. I also left quite a few deals, thinking i'll come back later and negotiate, only to find out that those Zens were already gone. I finally got my Zen after a colleague put me on to a true value guy he knew quite well. This guy called me as soon as the car was driven in to true value and a few hours later I had booked it .. Enjoy the car.

PS- Please get rid of those wheelcaps. They look awful.

Congrats, although like many others, I feel 1.75L is waay too much for this car.

Another 25k would give you a newer Santro or Spark. Just my 2 cents.

The formula I posted was slightly wrong; there is a constant in it.

It is 0.4 x D square x N where D is the diameter of the bore in inches

Re: 'The Search' ends here - ZEN it is !!!

Congrats my friend on zen, its a very good car, when i was in Mumbai i bought a zen 2003 Lxi for 1.4L in Jan 2010, after 6 months moved to bangalore and used for 3 months. I have sold my MH registration zen in bangalore in August 2010 for 1.4L again with very heavy heart as i moved to onsite assignment. Check my sold zen in my garage. Congrats once again.

Re: 'The Search' ends here - ZEN it is !!!

The demand for Zens is very heartening for me as I currently have a '01 Zen VX and will be looking to sell it some time next year.

Are the cup holders (ahead of the gear lever) standard or were they added aftermarket by the previous owner?

I have already waited 2 months for a Zen at exact market price. But it was way too difficult. Finally had to make some compromise before the frustration shot-up.

I am not sure. But they look quite original.

Re: 'The Search' ends here - ZEN it is !!!

Congrats for the Jellybean. IMO, Zen was one of the most iconic cars MSIL has ever produced. And it certainly looks so good in that white guise.
It would have looked so much better with that honeycomb grille.
Wishing your wife happy and relaxed mile crunching with the Maruti workhorse.
