First one is the Music system. It has some cassette player which pops-out when the car goes over a hump. And when the ignition is turned-on, it automatically starts playing with max volume - even if I adjust everytime.

Tyres look ok. Maybe an upgrade to alloys later - but not now (Low on Vit-M).

No performance upgrades in my mind.

Re: 'The Search' ends here - ZEN it is !!!

Updates:

Till now we have clocked 300kms after getting the car. I drove to my work twice
(30kms oneway). Enjoying the different driving experience. (I haven't driven any car other than my Palio MJD in the past 2 years).

Some issues have cropped up. Gave it back to the TrueValue service centre and got most of them rectified.

1. Gearshift was not smooth enough: They have changed the clutch plate. Better now.
2. Handbreak lever was heating up: Some 'handbreak cable' replaced.
3. Driver side Power window and door rattle: Beadings changed.
4. Central locking was not working in rear RHS door: Locking system replaced.
5. Front bumper mis-alignment: They claim that they've re-installed. But I am not seeing much difference.
6. Interior Cabin light was not working (when opening the doors): Replaced and working fine.

All the above were done Free of cost with Picking-up and dropping the car at my home.

Issues still pending:
1. AC direction knob is not working: Waiting for spare.
2. Front LHS Power window stopped working y'day: I've reported this today. Waiting for a response.
3. Rattle noise from rear: Wooden tray housing the rear speakers is the culprit. Have to repair during ICE upgrade.

These 2 are eternal problems; I have been facing them since ages!

About the door rattle, no A.S.S. has come up with a solution as such. They just tighten it during each service and it gets back to rattling after driving on rough roads.

About the rear tray rattling : the A.S.S. has put a cushioning; a little tape and some other sponge type material at the 2 fastening points. That has completely stopped any noise.

Flip side, each time you wanna fit a big suit case and you lift the tray, you get the noise back until you can cushion it well.

I have this too. Its mainly from my left front, and i'm quite sure its the window holder. Will get it checked out the next time.

ch.nethan - Good to know that they are covering electrical also under warranty. I thought electrical was not covered.

Re: 'The Search' ends here - ZEN it is !!!

^^^ I wouldn't say this is warranty repair. Maruti TrueValue is supposed to sell the car trouble-free, if the claims (like 120-point checks and repairs) in their website are real. Otherwise their reputation is at stake.

Has anyone seen / used this Remote key?

The button 'I' is for both locking and unlocking. But I don't find what's the button 'II' for? If I press, the LED glows but nothing else happens. And I have no idea which brand is this.

Re: 'The Search' ends here - ZEN it is !!!

That is the standard OEM central locking system provided by Maruti. It is a Nippon system.
Till date even I am not sure what the II button does.

Re: 'The Search' ends here - ZEN it is !!!

My wife drove it to her office day before y'day. And came back successfuly with a broken lamp:

'The Search' ends here - ZEN it is !!!-p1020150.jpg

Another incident on the same day:
While taking a sloped turn, it seems the Zen went back and touched a cab which was behind. Though nothing happened to cab and our Zen, the cab driver chased, overtook, blocked the Zen and started arguing with her. (I was not there). Then he had to let go since there was not even a scratch on the cab and the crowd was not supporting him.

And hence, there comes the 'L' stickers on front and back windscreens of the Zen !!!

Re: 'The Search' ends here - ZEN it is !!!

Oh boy...Looking at that smashed parking lamp, and not a single scratch on the bumper, it seems there is some pretty furious biker with a bruised bike on the Bangalore roads today . I hope the lady didn't have any harms and these incidents haven't demoralized her away from driving!

Re: 'The Search' ends here - ZEN it is !!!

Congrats on the car! We owned a Zen at home few years back and all I can tell you is that there is no small car in production today which can match its FTD factor, nimbleness, FE.

Re: 'The Search' ends here - ZEN it is !!!

Are those body-coloured bumpers factory-fitted or painted white?

Also, how long did MS say they will stock spares (mainly headlight, indicators etc.) for this version of Zen?

Hi I have the same key in my 04 alto lxi with maruti nippon immobliser and central locking system . The no 2 button (II) is used in various combinations with the no 1 (I) button to activate its different features such as chirp enable, shock sensor enable etc...Also the red light on the dash is part of this system and is a valet switch . yes it is pressable but u need the nippon manual to conficure it . Also the controller u have is not the original on which has the maruti nippon branding and the owner got 2 of these with the car .New ones are in short supply today.

Re: 'The Search' ends here - ZEN it is !!!

Is these remotes OEM or MGA after sales fitments. The Nippon name is with a sticker which gets removed may be in a couple of years of operation.

Re: 'The Search' ends here - ZEN it is !!!

Ouch. Care to elaborate what caused the breaking of the glass ceiling..er sorry, of the headlight.

I never prefered Nippon Security systems, but was surprised to see that MS was tied up with them. Go to know this, when one of my neighbours, left their car n house keys with us as a safety backup.
