re: Took off with Grande Punto MJD EDIT : Tyres changed

Tyre Change:

The stock JKs 165 R14 had a lot of abuse running almost 46000 kms and i was running a risk pushing them more. Decided to change the tyres.

I wanted to upsize to get a better overall feel of the vehicle on the tarmac. Upsize on the width and breadth and not the height since i was a little tight on the vitamin M albeit i always liked the stance on the R15's.

Anyways, after all the research ON/OFF the web, finally got stuck between the Michelin XM2's and MRF ZLO's. On team-bhp's advice decided on Madhus Enterprises on Langford Road.

Relatively new to bangalore, took some while to figure out the place. Madhus was greeted by Mr.Mohsin who was very polite and attentive. He suggested me to go for 185/70's and i was a little confused between 185/70 and 185/65 since i read a palio thread where 185/70 hitting the fender on potholes. Mohsin rang up Nikhil.

Personally spoke to Nikhil where in he cleared the confusion telling me that the stock size was different for Punto and Palio. He was very attentive and suggested me to go for the ZLO's. On the other hand Mr.Mohsin suggested Michelin XM2.
I was very confused between the two. Heres what i had in hand
1.XM2 was less noisy and ZLO was more.
2.ZLO had better grip levels which was apparent looking at the two.
3.XM2 was a little broader although both were 185's.
4.ZLO came to 2000 bucks cheaper for 4 tyres.

Finally decided to go for ZLO's with vitamin M as the deciding factor.

The price quoted and paid

1. ZLO- Rs 3950 per piece.
2. Balancing and Alignment(Road Force Machine): Rs 650
3. JK's Scrap Value: Rs 300(The were really bad)

Note: 1. RIM Bend i had was hammered.
2. Air caps were provided
3. Rims could have been washed. Would have looked complete.

Michelin XM2 Price Quoted : Rs 4450 per piece.

Overall: Satisfied.

Tyres: The steering feels very rigid and enjoyable to drive. Still yet to hit the highway.
